22oz bottle. Fairly clear mahogany with a fizzy head. Aroma is toffee, dark dried fruit, vanilla and some Belgian yeast esters. Flavor is more toffee with a pretty strong alcohol burn, also some plum and peppercorn. Medium to full body with a long warming finish. Wow, still pretty hot but overall pretty good. Deep hazy dark brown coloured body with a muddy brown glow and a thick, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, a nice yeast strain, some caramel and toffee, raisins, pit fruits and a bit of chocolate too. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a lot of caramel and raisin sweetness, some subdued yeast and spice flavours, but a good dense and deep chocolate and earthy malt notes. Aftertaste shows a good complex set of flavours with the sugars and yeast coming through most often. Overall, a nice belgian strong, closest to a dubbel, but a good flavour profile and some nice interesting tastes. Great to try, if you can still find it, grab it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 25-April-2013 for US$8.31 sampled at home in Washington on 23-July-2013. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, dates, light spice.
Taste comprises dark fruit compote, raisens, brown bread dough, dates, brown sugars, toffee fudge, light booze.
Full end of medium bodied with fine carbonation, fruity tang in the finish.

Pours a hazy sienna color with two fingers of foam. On the nose its got a dose of sweet malt, belgian yeast, and banana bread. The palate follows the nose with flavors of raisin, date, nutmeg, clove and brown sugar. A bit sugary but drinkable.

Pours dark brown, beige head. Nose is brown sugar, yeast, slight dark fruit, caramel. Flavour is dark fruit, caramel, molasses. Finish is um Belgian. Bottle @ Mondial - bark roily brown with a modest cap, low carbonation....big waft of fruits in the aroma, ome funk and sweetness, fusel alcohol. Medium body, rich oily mouth feel. Flavour is primarily cocoa and fruits - dark fruits, stone fruit, some resinous hopping shows later, big malt layering....finishes a bit dry and bitter. bottle at mondial de la bière, mtl. unclear brown-reddish with a decent light beige head, some retention. sweet dark malts, caramel-toffee, decent spiciness, shy belgian presence, earthiness. average carbonation, light to medium body, decent grassy-spicy finish. can’t say i enjoyed it, but it’s more than o-k..
