[5401-20130530] Sample. Aroma has a light maple note to it. Hazy, dark brown red body with a quick foamy off-white head. Roasted spiced fruit bread flavour. Full body. Interesting but a little harsh. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

Dark red pour. No head or lacing. Aroma is dark, prunes, raisans. Taste is malty. Burnt/ dark chocolate, raisan and some spice. Very different for style but it works. Smooth. mcclainc50 (217) - New York, USA - MAY 10, 2014
Pours a dark amber brown, with a thin light head. Princess, currants, barley and chocolate in the nose. Flavors of raisin, chocolate, barley notes, and some spice. Overall a good Belgian be, doesn’t have the overwhelming yeast notes, let’s the other ingredients come through.

Pours a rye bread brown with a etched surface of toasted cream foam. Smells of wood, hazelnuts, some grain, some flour, a bit of prune. Bitter, with some toasted grains, some dry charred character, a little bit of clove and alcohol. Medium on thin with moderate carb and a wet finish. Not very good. ericdevin (988) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 6, 2013
Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a very dark reddish brown, decent amount of tan head. Aroma dried cherries, plums, a robust and sweet maltiness, maybe even some chocolate. Body rich and well-balanced, malty, yeasty. A lot going on here, finish brief and a bit sweet. Really well done. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Bottle:   Deep caramel, very dark, thin sudsy beige head, little lacing.   Bready and nutty aroma, faint caramel.   Similar on the tongue.   Fairly sweet.   No real dark pitted fruit, mustiness, or things I
associate with a Belgian Strong Ale.   Seems like an uber Vienna or something.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Bready and nutty finish, moderate sweetness, some caramel and toffee like sweetness.   Not bad, not
great, very pedestrian.   Nothing about this one stands out except its sweeter than most.   Otherwise okay. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - AUG 6, 2013
Bottle: I can’t believe how impressed I was over this beer... had a disappointing experience with the Time Traveler, but this blew me away. An amber brown pour with a modest beige head, leads to an aromatic nose of sweet Belgian sugars, yeast, berries, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is a nice weight and the flavors come through bold and balanced. Chocolate, faded citrus hops, caramel, yeast, and Belgian sugars again. Some leather too… reminds me of Adam, one of my long-term favorites, albeit a milder interpretation. Really really nice stuff. Ferris (15285) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 28, 2013
Bottle - Dark fruit, brown sugar, bit of alcohol. Dark mahogany with a thin brown head. Rasin, prune, lots of sugar and very boozy. A nice stong, but a bit too much booze.
