12oz bottle pours amber with a short white head that didn’t stay long. Aromas of caramel malts, and a touch of biscuit with some grassy hops. Flavor is quite malty with notes of caramel, a touch of yeast, and some sweet roasted malts. Palate is light and rather airy with carbonation. Pretty drinkable and woudl be a decent sumer session. I thought htis to be an amber and not a pale actually. Finhead (1847) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2010
A deep amber pour with decent white head. The aroma is sweet with dark fruits, caramel, and slight vanilla. The taste is also very sweet with soft carbonation and a clean finish. JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - AUG 7, 2003
Dark red body with a very thin head, despite pouring hard. Smells of clean malt with a little acidity coming through. Taste is bright, fruity hops mated with a healthy amount of malt that turn into drying pepper and soda water. The most impressive thing about this beer is the malt flavor, indicative of good ingredients. Also, a welcome yeastiness emerges on the palate as this beer warms. Aftertaste is mild. The beer wont blow your doors off with flavor but it is certainly a few cuts above Killians, et. al. (macro-ambers). Also, bang for the buck factor is through the roof ($.79 per 12 oz). I was very surprised by this beer. Deep red color with medium head and a small amount of lacing. Nice malt flavor with some citrus notes. Finish is somewhat bitter. Nice affordable beer. Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - SEP 21, 2003
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2004 Nice dark amber red color, small head that dissappeared fast. The aroma was malty and slightly sweet, with the taste coming in at much the same with a hint of hops and the after taste being malty and semi-sweet.not there best work by far but it's decent and priced right.I have to start making more side trips to New Ulm when i go to the cities.

Thanks to Paul for bringing this back to me from Minnesota! And of course when I think Minnesota, I think gila monsters, busily frolicking in the snow and swimming in the lakes. Um. Anyhow, pours an orange amber, nice head. Light caramel aroma blends with some green, somewhat vegetal hop notes. Flavor is lightly caramel, with a bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Sort of reminds me of Killian’s before it got so watered down. Not really a pale lager, I should mention. AgedOak (99) - Ohio, USA - APR 1, 2007
By the bottle, a light amber tone to its appearance, with a nice off-white head. Quite malty with notes of caramel and subtle toffee. Just a hint of hops and a sweet malty finish. A very nice dependable spring/summer one. kennydiaz (362) - Manahawkin, New Jersey, USA - FEB 7, 2008
NICE AMBER COLOR WITH A MALTY TASTE. A NICE MILD AFTER TASTE. A LITTLE BETTER THAN AVERAGE BEER. wilkie (1208) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - FEB 16, 2008
Bottle, purchased at Trader Joe’s in Cary, NC. Pours copper/amber, with a medium whitish head, and some lacing. Aroma is malty, with some sweet caramel. Flavor is somewhat similar, with a slight malty caramel taste at the beginning, and then a decent hop-dry finish. A little thin, but I am surprised that the 4.2 abv doesn’t taste more watery. 12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s in Short Pump, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is grainy toffee with a bit of nuttiness. Taste is caramel, toffee, bread and a nutty finish. No real hop notes to speak of. Medium bodied. Decent beer.
