Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark muddy brown color with just a film of a little white head. Sly lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of roasted nuts, toast, earthiness, cereal and a nice caramel/toffee malt backbone.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side initially and then opened up with the roast, earthiness and then a touch of hay. Crisp semi-roasty/malty sort of aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good.
Overall, nicely done English styled brown ale worthy of having again. j12601 (10882) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAY 14, 2010
On tap at the Otter. Pours a lightly crimson hued brown, clear, with a nice soft medium sized mocha head. Nice toasty malt, nutty, slight caramel sweetness. Medium bodied, a little bit sweet, nice malty backbone, smooth. Slowly developing bitterness, some grapefruit tones to it, a bit more malt and caramel, and just the slightest wet metallic tinge. Decent brown.
