A very nice Cascadian Dark Ale (Black IPA) brewed with Governor’s Cup coffee. Very nice dark malt flavor.

Pours clear cola with a medium beige head, some lacing. Aroma of coffee, doughy and pine. Flavor of toasted malts, bready, grapefruit and pine
12 oz can. Love the name on this. Aroma is coffee, green pepper, dough, pine, wet stone, vanilla, dark bread crust. Pours dark brown--nearly black--with a one finger beige head that falls after a minute. Taste starts out sweet with the vanilla notes before some medium-high bitterness sets in and lingers; lots of coffee and green pepper (always a good thing with me) notes. Portland International Airport - Made in Oregon Store - 22 oz bomber. Dark black as tar pour with a thick frothy off-white head, nice sticky lacing. Aroma is doughy with hints of chocolate and light whiffs of spruce. Flavor has some heated pepper notes, some faint citrus bitterness, hints of chocolate. Thick sticky mouthfeel - overall excellent. 12 oz can poured. This is probably the least weird beer from these guys I’ve ever had. And still, this is very unique. A dark bronze pour with a rocky foam head. Huge roasted malt and coffee aroma, which almost leads to a green pepper like reminder. Toasty. Coffee bean roasted up front flavor, with the same green pepper indicator in the flavor. A good chocolate flavor that sits behind. Has a just under harsh bitterness to round it out. Fun and unique beer overall. Clever name. Interesting to say the least.

Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, resiny hops and coffee. The finish is roasty malt and coffee up front with a mildly hoppy aftertaste. Moderately bitter overall and a bit higher in the aftertaste, with burnt coffee and grapefruit (hops) both contributing.

Tap at BCS. Deep brown with no head. Burned coffee, piney hops and roasted malts on the nose. Body is thin and watery on the palate. Some light roasted vegetables. Bitter and astringent finish with burned malts and espresso. Harsh finish. Needs some work.
