Draft, Hard Liver, ’07 vintage. Dark brown pour, white head. Aroma is sweet and caramelly, with vanilla notes. This has a huge, yet subtle flavor. Has the characteristic barley wine sweet caramel and toffee, with sticky raisin notes and vanilla. Overall this is one the sweet side, but is balanced out by light earthy and grassy hop bitterness and pronounced oakiness. This is very drinkable with no noticable alcohol harshness. Very nice, and certainly the most balanced barley wine I had today. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - NOV 26, 2010
Tasted at the Bistro Barrel aged fest 2010. It pours reddish orange with a khaki head. The aroma is of bourbon and wood. The flavor is nice rich dark fruit, especially cherries with some bourbon and caramel. Nice barleywine. I wish I had taken better notes! chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2011
draft... my favorite barley wine at fobab... this should be the standard bearer for a barleywine that’s hoppy still but accented perfectly by barrels, try this furthur (1182) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - JAN 23, 2016

Had the ’09 of this on tap at the Hard Liver Fest in Seattle last weekend. Colour... garnet-amber with no head. Nose... soy, mustard and bittersweet chocolate brownies. Palate... lots of dark chocolate, mildly sweet, malty, grainy, burnt brown sugar and a medium length finish. mu11igan (133) - Davis, California, USA - NOV 13, 2010
On tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival. I’m not a big barleywine fan, but this Big Woody was outstanding. The vanilla and fig came through in the aroma and flavor. It wasn’t overly sweet, but was very mellow. jethrodium (366) - Berkeley, California, USA - NOV 16, 2011
On tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest. Pours a clear copper with a small tan head that has good retention and leaves some light lacing on the glass. Aroma is vanilla, caramel, a bit of oak, some bourbon, a bit of light alcohol, and a little bit of cherry. The initial taste is sweet vanilla, followed by some oak, caramel, a little bit of nuttiness, and some bourbon. The finish is warm with alcohol. Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Enjoyable barley wine. Perhaps a tad too sweet, but very good. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2013
