Our perennial favorite is back! The Flathead Cherry Ale is a refreshing blend of a light-colored beer and a cherry flavor. We pour this one in our tasting room all summer but you never know where it could pop up next!

12 oz bottle from the $50,000 Bar in Montana. I guess this brewery never got the memo that artificial flavors and Red #40 are no longer desirable in "Hand Crafted Ales" in the year 2015. Aroma is total maraschino cherries, nothing else. Pours filtered golden with a small white-pink head. Taste is maraschino cherries with a light golden ale base. Tastes pretty good in a fake soda pop way. If they would’ve used real fruit, it probably wouldn’t have turned out as good.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden amber color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head fades relatively quickly leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a cherry smell mixed with a good showing of a booze and alcohol (for a 5.5% it is rather potent), giving the smell a somewhat medicinal cough drop smell. Taste – The taste begins with a rather malty and bready flavor mixed with a little bit of a cherry taste. As the taste moves on more and more sweet artificial cherry joins the original nice cherry taste with some corn syrup and caramel joining the tongue as well. All the while a little bit of a boozy medicine alcohol taste comes to the tongue as well, and with a hint of a grainy and hay taste, ends up leaving one with a medicinal cherry cough drop like flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thin with a carbonation level that is moderate. A higher carbonation level would have likely hide some of the off flavors better and matched the cherry flavors more nicely creating a cleaner sipper overall. Overall – Not really my kind of cherry brew. This was a bit too cherry medicinal for me.

My first review for Glacier Brewing Company. Pick up a single 12-oz bottle from Summer Sun Garden & Brew in Missoula, MT. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with an average sized off-white that slowly dissipates and leave behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of mostly maraschino cherries, a very faint hint of caramel malt and some floral hops. Flavor is light to medium bodied with mostly flavors of maraschino cherries, some light golden grain malt and a hint of salt. Finish continues the cherry flavor, a short mild bitterness that quickly disappears leaving behind more of the cherry flavor. Nothing more than a golden ale with sweetened cherry juice added. Reading some of the other reviews, drink this one as fresh as possible if cherries are your favorite fruit.

bottled: unknown A:pours golden with a finger of white foam which immediately falls to a central cone of the same. excellent clarity and no lace. S: Smells of cough syrup and sugared cherries. A hint of skunk T: Wow, this is shit. oxidized pilsner malt, some vanilla cherry, artificial flavoring, artificial sugar, artificial flavoring, artificial sugar. An adjunct flavor - maybe rice M: thin with hi carb - similar to coors O: this is among the worst beers I’ve had. Ever. This beer does serve a purpose, however...great for sorority chicks - guaranteed. This beer is not worthy. Not worthy at all. Their website indicates it’s been added to the year-round schedule because of overwhelming demand, wow, that’s sad for the palates of Montana. Serving type: bottle 10-12-2011

Artificial cherry notes, wheat, and butter. Wow. Pours golden, thin fizzy head. Flavors of medicinal sweet cherry, butter, and wheat. Buttery finish. Tough to drink.

Had this on tap. Poured a pink hued golden color. Smells of cough syrup. More of the same taste wise, cough syrup. Reminds me of being sick as a child. This beer is shitty. Some things should just not be attempted.

SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle: Poured a hazy orange with a white colored head. Aroma is fruit, cherries and grain. Taste is light cherry with grain, not overpowering fruit and a bit watery.

DuffMan (10451) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 5, 2012
Part of the tasting platter @ the brewpub. Very pale clear straw yellow, intense maraschino cherry aroma. Candy sweet fake cherry syrup flavour with vanilla accents. Watery thin. All wrong for me.
