Dark brown, nitro head. Chocolately character, very sweet up front but with a touch of balancing hop. Ok, but there are more complex examples in AK.

2008-09-06. Black body with a modest tan/brown head. (4+) Flavour has sweet malty base with roasty bitterness that escalates in the finish where a pleasant roast mingles with just a kiss of anise undertones, and hints of alcohol. (7+) Aroma of mocha roast is rather nice. (7+) Average plus palate is smooth. (3+) On tap at the brewpub.

[1663-20080906] Tap. Chocolate roasted malt aroma. Clear, dark brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Smoothly roasted chocolate mocha malt flavour with a lingering sweetness. Full body has mild bitterness. Wonderful.

On nitro tap at the brewery. Looks really nice with a huge brown head, cascading. A chocolate, ash and roast nose. The overall flavor is toffee, sweet chocolates, milky, vanilla. Solid. Creamy.

after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUN 15, 2009
Draft at Jake’s in Steilacoom. Pours absolutely jet black with a thick and creamy tan mousse up top. Not much lace. Nice big chocolate nose, very roasty, a little bit of anise there but not much. Gorgeous silky, creamy, thick mouthfeel, just a huge sedative of a stout. Nice big roasty body, soft sweetness from the oatmeal and then some chocolate notes. Unfortunately it’s amazingly hot and boozy for 5.4%; bits of acetic vodka creep through right near the end there.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 6, 2004
Had on tap at the Resurrection Roadhouse in Seward, Alaska. Dark purple to opaque black appearance with a thick, creamy, mocha colored head. Coffee accented aroma with some licorice undertones. Bittersweet chocolate flavor permeates thoughout with a bit of hoppyh back end bite. Delicous to say the least. Creamy, silky mouthfeel. Looking forward to visiting this brewpub later this week in Anchorage.
