Bottle from a Waitrose. Mahogany with a foamy cream head. Roasty aroma with some plasticene. The taste has chocolate and light spice. Toast also. A little thin with moderate carbonation. OK.

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and fairly crisp. Thin tangy dark malts. Some dark chocolate. A little roast bitterness runs throughout. Light dry finish. Drinkable but just another stout.

Cask. Black (I don't have a hat to check against) with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is liquorice, burnt toast, black currant, toffee, earth. Light bodied, creamy mouthfeel, lightly bitter on the palate with a touch of umami and astringency. Taste is dark toast, chicory, toffee.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Spring Festival at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. Darkest mahogany in colour with a ring of white head; chocolate malt aroma; and a sweet chocolate malt taste with some chewy toffee in the background; then a dry finish with some lingering coffee grounds.

WVHouseofBeer (1033) - West Virginia, USA - NOV 7, 2014
Pours black with a massive frothy brown head (almost too much head in fact.....) that leaves a lot of lacing. Decent aromas and flavors of light peat, roasted nuts, molasses and chocolate. Body is too thin. Finishes slightly bitter. Pretty good stout.

Beese (2570) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 7, 2014
Cask at Cambridge Blue, Cambridge on 22 November 2013. Poured black with a small, rocky tan head. Mild aroma with some dark fruit and burnt malt. Mouth feel was a bit disappointingly watery. Sweet flavours initially; apple pie, caramel and molasses. Finish balanced it with some roasted malt, cereal and burnt sugar.

My Bottom Line:
This soft and dry Stout matches light mokaccino to hints of berries and mint for an easy drinking experience.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the ruby-hued darkness.
-Mild molasses and roast take control of the finish.
-Mouthfeel is svelte, which makes this Stout very easy on the palate.
-The berry character is jam-like.

Bottle.
