Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of taffy, gum, fennel seed, plastic, celery.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium to full body, syrupy/oily/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
A weird, mostly unpleasant beer. Aroma has a couple nice things but the plastic, celery, artificial taffy-ish sorta notes tend to dominate. Those dirty aspects carry through to the mouth experience in the finish, and the mouthfeel is slick and syrupy, just not enjoyable. Looks nice, but that’s about it. This brewery has seemingly lost its way in the past several years. Imaena (2359) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - DEC 2, 2014
Bottle. This is a lovely Saison a bit on the sweet side but very easy drinking stuff. Drake (14332) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 26, 2014
750 mL bottle shared at a tasting, 11/3/14. Pours a hazy orange with a large creamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bready malt, spice, citrus, yeast, dough, mild oxidation and vegetal notes. The taste is spice, apple, yeast, mild oxidation. Medium bodied, low carbonation. stoutnick (843) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 9, 2014
Cloudy straw colour. Aroma is very mild citrus character. Taste is lovely tropical fruit - lychee, banana. Nice tartness. Abv not very apparent but then this was a well aged bottle. Sweetness on finish. Nice one. Alengrin (5890) - BELGIUM - OCT 8, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2017 Special edition of Saison d’Erpe-Mere made since 2008, also tasted under its new Lentebier alias. Sticky, egg-white, medium thick, frothy, stable head, hazy peach blonde robe. Aroma of banana and bubblegum, dough, cloves, pineapple, coriander seed, honey, grass, ginger powder, camomile, apricot. Sweet onset, fruity and estery, strong presence of banana ester, hints of peach and apple, medium carbo, smooth and somewhat creamy mouthfeel, bit soapy with wheat slickness clearly noticeable. Caramelly and bready malt base as well. Spices (especially coriander), also in phenolic form, are strong especially in the end, where they meet with a soft, herbal hop bitterish touch and some warming, wodka-like alcohol. Overcoriandered to my taste and too banana estery, but technically more than decent; seems to be an ode to Tripel Karmeliet and other sweet and spiced tripels.

Bottle thanks to bartlebier. Pours a golden straw with fine bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Aroma has a slight lemon citrus, some hop spice, Alcohol on top of a sage sprinkled malt cracker. Has a big white fluffy head that sticks. On the palate is a slight chewy banana, lemon, citrus, and transforms into a white pepper, dried grass and alcohol heat that dissolves into a sweet tang on the sides of the tounge. Not a bad beer but the Alcohol dominated way too much for me to thoroughly appreciate. omhper (25953) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 30, 2014
