This is part of the Gnarly Oak gift pack I bought at Walgreens over the holidays, $12.99 for three 22 ounce bombers and a glass. Beer #2 for me is Hazelnut Dark. Served in the Gnarly Oak glass, the beer pours a clear amber color with an inch light tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s a little bit of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells mostly like hazelnuts, along with some caramel and bready malt. Taste pretty much follows the aroma, the strongest flavor is hazelnut, and there’s also some caramel, bready malt, and some light hops. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a bit creamy and is well carbonated. I thought this was a solid brew, but then I do like hazelnuts so I might be a bit biased. I’d like to try this one again in the future. llcooldave (1222) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Acquired in a 3 mixed bomber pack with a glass. Copper amber in color. Really nice clean toasted hazelnut aroma. More toasted hazelnut notes in the aroma. Overall, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this but I’m pleasantly surprised and delighted. This would probably pair well with some dark chocolate. Frozer (240) - Illinois, USA - SEP 27, 2014

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2013 The aroma is super nutty with caramel and subtle hops. The appearance is dark amber with a small head. The taste is like aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is a great beer. Ocean82 (82) - Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Pours slightly hazy copper with thin head. Nutty hazelnut aroma. Peanuts, hazelnut on the palate with a slight bite if hops. Slightly plasticky aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel.

this is a dominate flavor of hazelnuts with the malts and hops taking a secondary flavor. its quite smooth and has a nice burn. the only flaw is a slight astringent taste at the end. shrubber85 (11582) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 17, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2014 Bottle. Nice strong hazelnut and toffee malt aroma. Amber with nice head. Very strong hazelnut and light toffee malt flavor. A very nutty beer. A very pleasant surprise - a box set with 3 drinkable Minhas beers with a nice stem glass. Nekronos (4174) - Xalapa, MEXICO - MAR 28, 2014

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2014 Re-rated 2/1/14: I picked up another Gnarly Oak sampler at Walgreen’s, this time on clearance. I don’t know why I was so down on this brew - It actually is quite tasty. Have revised the rating to reflect that an made minor edits to my original comments:
Pour from a 22oz bomber. Clear amber brew with two fingers of head that settles down to a small scrum as the beer sits in the glass. Aroma dominated by the smell of hazel nut extract. Taste is also dominated by the hazel nut, which is of course nutty and woody. Barest bit of sweet malt at the start, finish is overall dry and woody. Average palate.
