Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy light amber, dense particles of all sizes, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (cobwebs), moderately hoppy (citrus - lemon, herbs), with light notes of pineapple and clove. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent. Nice, but some nits: a little too bitter, a little too astringent, a little too yeasty. Goldorak (438) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 28, 2005
The label specifies that the brewery is called Brasserie du Grand Enclos in Bouillon, no mention of DuBocq, maybe they got bought out. Got a 4 pack with 2 blondes and 2 rousses with the glass near Bouillon, near the French border. Godefroy de Bouillon lead the first cruisade.
Golden and slightly hazy, the head consisted only of a slick of bubbles after the initial foam died down.
Relatively typical belgian yeast profile, spicy with a bit of coriander, perhaps a little bit of grassy hops.
Decent carbonation that places the simple yet pleasing yeast spicyness in front, the hops follwing suit. I had zero expectations from this one, expected the worse and ended up with a nice, sessionable belgian ale.
