COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%, then 4.2%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal

Bottle, 50 cl. Hazy honey colour, rocky white head. Good retention. The aroma is lovely. Fruit, berries, salt, wheat malt, spice (coriander is not obligatory detectable). Light to medium body. Light to medium sour taste. Sparkling wheat, unripe fruit, delicate salt. Refreshing and tasty as hell.

Metalchopz (3419) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 14, 2017
Pours a hazy golden colour with a slight orange hue. Frothy mild off-white head, average retention and very light lacing. Sourness nose with citrus notes (oranges, lemons), hints of salt, malt and coriander. Malty start to the taste with a sour middle and goes back down again to mild wheat and barley malts. A tad of saltiness lingers. Pretty good and very nice to try the oldest still-existing gose.

Really nice light sweet malts, gentle hints of almost fruity or citrus notes that gently transitions into a smoky saltiness.

mikkopen (1172) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2017
500 ml bottle. Hazy yellow colour, dense white head. Sweetish wheaty-malty aroma with sour lemony notes and spices. The taste is tart, with apples and malt, lemon, and a dryish, spicy and tart finish. Tasty and refreshing.

lesifflebiere (1904) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2017

Punkero (462) - FINLAND - JUL 27, 2017
Hay aroma. Light yellow. Malty and faint straw boogie. Light carbonation. Nice delicate sourness. Tart. Not too much fruit hifi. Probably not my cup of beer.

beer-yum (1761) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 26, 2017
Alluring tart aroma in a hazy yellow gold pour. Similarly enticing tart taste is perfectly balanced and hugely refreshing. A deserved benchmark of the style and likely responsible for its resurrection and current popularity.
