COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting ale that was first brewed in 1824. It is the beer specialty of Leipzig and the oldest still existing Gose brand in the world. Gose is an own, ancient style of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with the special historic Gose yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by the additional lactate fermentation.
Brewed by Hartmannsdorf until 2014 (until 2007 @3.9%, then 4.2%), brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014, World Beer Idol 2016: Gose Gold, World Beer Cup 2016: Bronze Medal

Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Pours a slightly hazy golden peach color with a two finger fizzy head that fizzes out quickly. On the nose there is some nice round cereal malt, yogurt tartness and a nice dose of lemony citrus. On the palate its bright and refreshing with a great base maltiness that holds up nicely to the ripe tartness and citrus flavors. Perfectly balanced and amazingly drinkable... I love me a nice gose!

Bottle 0,5 l / Amstein - St-Légier (CH). Veiled blonde straw with an average white head quickly disapeared and leaving a circular ring. Sourish and fresh beer, with lemon, cottage cheese, wheat and salt. Hints of coriander and gooseberry. Crisp and mossy, low bitter, rancid and lactic notes.

Well done gose. A touch sour in the finish. Big salt all the way, yes the classic. Not super drinkable but also not masked by fruit.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a slightly hazy gold with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head. Nice aroma (7+) of lime, salt, grain, lactose and fruit. Flavour (7+), also nice, is lightly tart, salty and fruity. Average bodied. Well done and enjoyable.

500mL bottle. Pours a hazy, burnt orange-ish gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is sour; spice, lemon, some funk, and wheat. Taste is lactic, lemon, wheat, light coriander, some orange, more spice, and a light funkiness in the yeast. Light salinity. Dry finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Crisp-ish mouthfeel.

The beer pours a slightly hazed metallic gold colour with a white head that had the retention of a soft-drink, There is plenty of effervescence visible in the glass. The aroma is tart fruit, spices, and yeast. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is very tart, with spices and salt thrown in. A better than average gose.

Bottle. Very hazy pale yellow with a rapidly receding white head. Aroma is sweaty and spicy, coriander prominent. Wheaty and lemony-tart, with perfumey coriander and a minerally yeast and saline finish. Compulsively drinkable.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2017 (Bottle) Hazy, bubbling orange body with a thick, creamy white head. Aroma is salty and sour, some citrus; makes my nose tingle. Light bodied, bubbly. Strong acidity, slightly sour lemon, vinegar, dry finish.

cattaneopapa (417) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2017
500ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with three finger of white head that reduces to one finger that lingers. Champagne-like aroma with notes of citrus, apples, bananas andf a whiff of coriander. Taste matches the aroma. Reminds me of the Belgian Geuze style. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very enjoyable sour. Recommended.
