In 1998 the Golden Brau brand started being produced, currently being the best-sold beer in Romania. The beer has a clear appearance, with a characteristic glitter and carbon dioxide pearls, having white, dense foam leaving a lacy trace on the glass. The yellow color reflects the image of golden wheat fields in the summer heat. The carbon dioxide content creates a sensation of liveliness and coolness.

Editor’s Note: This brand is also produced at other Brau Union plants, most notably Wieselburger in Austria.
ABV and Plato went from 4.8% and 11° to 5% and 11.2°.

Can sample at a tasting at Beerandbeyond store. Thanks kerenmk. Pours yellow with no head, aroma of bubblegum, malt and corn, light flavor of herbs, malt and alcohol, light bodied

Can shared at a tasting at Beerandbeyond store. Pale straw blond with white film. Sweet and then metallic aroma, then comes butter. Tastes sweet and slightly buttery, body’s light, finish is short and rather refreshing.

visionthing (5560) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 31, 2013
50cl can on the ferry from Starigrad to Split (bought in a supermarket near the ferry terminal). Lightly malty aroma. Pretty standard pale lager. Drinkable in the sun, but quite boring. [Backlog: Tasted 2009-06-09]

Vargatul (139) - Bucharest, ROMANIA - DEC 29, 2012
Draught, in Braila, Romania.

Golden colour, clear liquid, medium sized white head.

Aroma has notes of malt, fresh bread, boiled corn.

Light body, watery texture, bittersweet taste, almost no finish.

ComradeK (1262) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 5, 2012
330ml can, brewed under licence in Tunisia. Pours a clear pale yellow, witha tiny, quickly dissipating head. The aroma is soapy and a little oily, and thus far from pleasant. Mild grassy hops give way to a sweet corn flavour, leading into a metallic finish. An appalling beer, and to my mind a pale lager, definitely not a Bohemian pilsener.

Oakes (19027) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 29, 2012
Pale yellow. Aroma is sour and grassy. Sweet, thin, and tart in the finish. All kinds of technical faults on display here.

ovi (3) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - JUN 18, 2012 does not count
Easy-going mainstream beer. Not anything fancy, easy enough to sustain a night of drinking, but definitely not for flavour lovers.

Eti_Chetto (3) - Montelupo Fiorentino, ITALY - MAY 28, 2012 does not count
Poor-tasted beer, can do without it. At least, it isn’t bitter and too much sparkling.

Viceroy (95) - Bucharest, ROMANIA - MAY 11, 2012
Can 0,5 l

Appearance: Clear amber color with a average, creamy, frothy, good lacing, white head.

Aroma: -moderate- malts, corn, bread,

Taste:moderately sweet and sour with a dry and almost absent bitterness finish

Palate:Body is thin, texture is watery, carbonation is average.

Overall: Boring and more of a pale lager than a bohemian pilsner.
