4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle from adnielsen. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The nose is dark roasted malts, chocolate, bourbon with more mild notes of dark fruits and molasses. The flavor has a nice play between the stout character (roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, dark fruits) and the bourbon and barrel qualities. Good mouth feel with soft carbonation. This was a very enjoyable and tasty brew.
Bomber 2011 vintage poured a clear dark reddish brown nearly black with a lingering ring of brown foam. Aromas of prunes, bourbon, oak, roastiness, dark chocolate and licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, oak, fruitiness, roastiness and dark chocolate with a smooth lingering bourbon finish. brokensail (16648) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Black pour with a khaki head. Roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, and light bourbon. Fudge, coffee, and some dark fruits. Maybe a bit of booze. Oak, bourbon, and vanilla notes to the flavor. Roasted malt, fudge, dark fruit, and hints of coffee. A bit of caramel and some light bitterness. mlunger12 (645) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 4, 2013
From 22oz bottle, pours with a brown head and a sweet boozy aroma. Aroma of coffee and big wiffs of vanilla. Very boozy on the front end and then a great balance through the back end. Reminds me a lot of Black Note except with a bit more barrel character. Tmoney99 (14983) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, bourbon wood and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a rich smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet smooth finish of moderate to long duration. Standout brew.

Bottle. Joan Jett black pour with a brown head. Enticing fudge, mellow bourbon, and toasted malt notes. Good body, nice mouthfeel. The taste follows suit with some dark roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, smooth bourbon, and oak undercurrents. Thanks Eric..... ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JUL 16, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2013 22oz bomber courtesy of adnielsen. thanks a ton, Aaron! as you know, my dog is my best friend and does his own version of the "belly up" move so i simply had to have this beer. poured into a snifter this one sits a rich and slightly oily black capped by a razor thin head of khaki bubble that leaves just a trace of oily legs. aroma is truly awesome, what a great surprise, with huge notes of fudge brownies, roasted malts, espresso, and damp earth backed by heavy oak, bourbon, vanilla, and subtle hints of praline and black cherry. flavor is excellent as well with rich, dark chocolate, salty, toasted nuts, caramel, and vanilla soda backed by heavy oak, warming bourbon, and toasted coconut with just a hint of tart fruit on the back end. palate is smooth, silky, and lightly carbonated with a dry, chocolatey, bourbon heavy finish that makes it sublimely drinkable. overall, this truly is a great barrel aged imperial stout that was brewed for one hell of a cause...protecting and caring for kick-ass dogs like Zeke and my best buddy. cheers, Golden City! b3shine (9150) - Indiana, USA - JUL 13, 2012
Bomber to snifter (batch 3). Looks decent; low carbonation and thin lacing though. Smells good; bourbon. Tastes good; like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Nice! hopscotch (11246) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours new moon black with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. The bouquet furnishes fudge, caramel, toasted pistachios, toasted almonds and bourbon. Full-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor offers caramel, fudge, vanilla and loads of mellow bourbon. Finishes caramely, chocolaty and bourbony. This is a bourbon lover’s imperial stout all the way, but there isn’t a lot of heat accompanying the nice bourbon essence. World class beer from a brewery that I had otherwise not caught wind of! biggsbowler (629) - Port St. Lucie, Florida, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle - Bourbon, Bourbon, and more Bourbon greatness and the beer is quite good too. Pours black with a medium body and light carbonation. Bourbon and vanilla hits you in the nose and it really smells great. You go in thinking it might be pretty hot, but actually the beer was very smooth. I think being only 8.5abv made this beer a very drinkable BA Imp Stout. Also, you get some vanilla and chocolate notes with some dark chocolate on the back end. I couldn’t put this beer down. Good job, Golden City!
