Pour is clear golden iwth a thin almost invisible white head...smell is musty and grainy...taste is grainy and sour...gross!
My last taste of Golden Eagle was in the late 1980ís and since my first taste in the late 1970ís, I noted two different bottles being used. There was a consistent difference in the flavor of each with the 12 oz bottle having the longer neck providing the much better flavor. It was a very fresh and green/bright flavor reminiscent of a freshly mowed lawn. The beer bottled in the shorter neck (longer body of the bottle) had more of a caramel flavor and less hoppy. The second type was on par or a little less good than Kingfisher while the first Golden Eagle discribed, has always been my favorite beer despite not being able to obtain it for the last 30 years. Fine hop aroma. Very malty lager with a good hoppy aftertaste. Very German in its expression, but certainly a type of real and thirst quenching lager. crossovert (12666) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 3, 2015
600ml bottle. Pale gold pour. Aroma is paper. Flavor is just odd, donít even know how to describe it, some kind of asian sauce. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2013
22oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy, very pale yellow with no head. Aroma of some weird stuff. Corn and grains with sour wheat and old flat beer. It kinda smells like walking into a bar Sunday morning before they clean anything. Taste is similar. Sour dirty bar. Wow, not good at all. Light bodied with a thin texture. Soft, but not flat carbonation and not much of a finish. Again, not a good beer. Itís like they took a really shitty beer, then watered it down. Hence making it even more shitty.
EDIT: looking closer at the bottle, it appears to have been packaged around 18months ago. They may explain some of the crap flavor, but Iím still guessing this was just a crap beer to begin with bruid (1) - - OCT 31, 2013 does not count
A very surprising & unusual ale, one of the best brews Iíve ever tasted, this is not for the budweiser palette, trust me. Often described as "smokey," it has strong hints of sage and maple, to which I can only add Yum.

Golden Eagle Lager Beer has a thick, slightly off-white head, a clear, very bubbly, deep golden appearance, and lots of thick lacing sticking to the sides of the glass. When I swished the bottom and poured, some yeast chunks were seen in the foam, and the foam turned tan (at the top). The aroma is full- pungent, sweet, malty, and noticeable as soon as the cap is popped. The flavor is really strange. There is an overriding charcoal taste in the beer, so it has a pronounced rauchbier character. One will also pick up sweetness, barley malt, and hops, but the smoke is overriding. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Golden Eagle Lager Beer finishes crisp, refreshing, and smoky. Overall, even with the bizarre nature, it is still quite good. Check it out, for an unusual experience. RJT adnielsen (10605) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle @ home picked up for $2.99 at Stockade Aurora for my malt liquor evening. Pours a clear golden appearance with a small white head. Weirdly smoky, green veggie, lightly toasted malty aroma. One of the most horrendous aromas Iíve ever came across. Fairly sweet, cardboard/paper, sulfuric, smoky flavor. Absolutely awful. Fuck you. BeerFunGuy (875) - California, USA - AUG 5, 2012
This beer has a very interesting taste. It has almost a caramel flavor. It isn't really your normal lager.

330ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a small white head that leaves very little lacing behind. Aromas are light cereal grains and grassy hops. Taste is quite malty sweet with a mild grassy hop bitterness that tends to linger. Typical macro style lager. maekchu (3847) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 29, 2012
Strange chemical, bad wine aroma, touch of moldy hay. Very pale straw color w/ little visible carbonation. Dryish, yuck, unpleasant aftertaste. Thin body, all flavors fade quickly. The label claims that it won gold medals at "Monde Selection" in 1982 and í83. I doubt that this one is THAT old ... but it tastes fairly gone.
