Pours golden colored with a head which quickly dissipates. Nice aroma. Crisp flavor. Nice summertime beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from Total Wine in Huntington Beach. Pours light gold with a white head. Aroma is bready and citrus floral. Med body, almost. Flavor matches aroma. Finishes rather bitter. Nice that.

Can in our hotel in Lagina Beach, from bottle shop in Long Beach, 17/04/14. Almost clear golden with a moderate off white swirl and edgeing. Nose is pale malt, grass, light citrus, on the thin side. Taste comprises pale malt, light caramel, hint of citric peel, grassy, popcorn. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp clean closure. Ok easy clean drinking number.

Aluminum can from Sprout’s: Poured a vibrant yellow tinted liquid that had millions of specs of dust floaties showing up—can’t remember the last time I saw a dusty Kolsch? The aroma was empty and did not have any identifiable smells other than some whiffs of grassy malts. The drink was just as bland with minimal amounts of taste other than a touch of sweetness and bitterness but no obvious characteristic of flavors worth mentioning. Very disappointing and I will stay weary when it comes to Golden Roads since some of their beers have been poor attempts.

This is not a kolsch. And there is no such thing as an American kolsch. Not fruity light hoppy off in style. Not a bad beer but not a kolsch.

CraftBrewJudge (10) - California, USA - NOV 11, 2013
This beer is a watery, bland, and poor excuse for a Kolsch. It doesn’t possess the crispness in the finish needed to be a Kolsch style of beer. If you want to try something that is actually close to a Kolsch, try Ballast Point’s Pale Ale or an actual Kolsch. Once again this brewery never ceases to amaze at its low attention to making quality beers. It should be ashamed to call itself a craft brewery.

16 oz can from store in LA. This is actually decently hoppy for a kolsch. very drinkable. i would take it over a macrobrew can anyday. very sessionable.

Decent, on tap at the brewery, light and easy to drink beer, thin, small hops, but decent

This beer worked well for me as an accompaniment to my salad. The aroma and taste held hints of pear, and a clean smooth palate with no funky maltiness, made it work well with light food, and in this case better than a wheat beer would have and it was a nice change from the usual options when I want something lighter flavored to begin my meal. It has a touch of sweetness, too, which made for a really good follower to a spicy dish such as the blackened fish that I had.
