COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a balanced showcase of the majestic hop specie, in Latin, Humulus Lupulus, which translates “Wolf Among Weeds”. It’s our celebration of California’s enthusiasm for hop-forward IPAs. At 8%, Wolf will sneak up on you from behind the robust citrus and dank earthy hop notes mirrored in its aroma and flavour profile.

The aroma hit me as soon as I cracked the can open. Smelled like a sack of that medical marijuana that the kids are smoking these days. Tastes great. 8% you say? Yikes. Goes down like a 6%er. Fruity, hoppy. A little tiny bit over sweet, but nothing to complain about. Would be much better if it weren’t $11.99 for a 4 pack of tall boys, but that doesn’t play into my rating. That’s just me being a cheapskate, which I’m really not. So, down the hatch! Football’s on!

Golden-bodied with a foamy, off-white head. Nice piny nose, albeit a tad soapy. The body follows through with piny juicyness. Nice restraint throughout, everything is in balance. Solid bitterness on the finish.

473ml can @ the office. Pours a hazy golden yellow colour with a thin white head. Nose is resinous hops, with some sweetness. Flavour is somewhat rough mix of pine and grass ending with a moderate bitter finish that lingers on the palate like a perfume.

500mL can, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of resinous hops, caramel malts, and light candied sugar. Flavour is a bit abrasive, with piney and resinous hops, harsh alcohol, and perfume. Messy and perfumey on the finish. This one isn’t too convincing.

Tall can at Brian’s office. Aroma is flowery with some sulfur notes. Taste is similar with herbal notes. Not bad.

Cloudy. Not much head. Has a bit chewy and stale hop aroma. The palate is about the same, with more chewy stuff, alcohol, and it’s a got a touch of toastiness. It’s ok, but lacks brightness.

3.2
tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUL 4, 2017
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a clear, golden hue, a fairly lingering, finger’s width of soft white foam, with doily-like lacing. The nose was dank, ripe fruit, earthiness, greenery, herbaceous, with some vegetal hints. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, the taste added slight malt sweetness, and some bitterness that was earthy, citrusy, and rind-like. Subdued DIPA buzz, and not really snifter worthy in my book.

Blind tasted with 3 other dipas, dipas were: 1. Flying Dog Imperial IPA - Calypso Single Hop 2. Southern Tier 2xSmash 3. Golden Road Wolf Among Weeds IPA 4. Forbidden Root Snoochie Boochies. Rater 1 rated the beers 4312, Rater 2 (ME): 4 13 TIE 2.

473ml can. Gold pour. Honey and hop aroma. Falvor is decent, peppery, mango, tropical candy, earth, pine, barley, licorice, booze.

Post tasting thoughts:
This is complex stuff, odd, but intriguing. Oh yeah, fuck inbev.

Not impressed. Should've known when I realized owned by AB InBev. Not well balanced. Very floral smell. Hint of grapefruit and heavy pine. Bitter aftertaste. Not for me. Wouldn't buy another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy, yellow-gold pour with a frothy, white head. The aroma has strong citrus with grapefruit dominate. It has a medium body with oily texture and average carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a slightly more bitter finish.

Looks like the In Bev effect, these beers are making it into PDX now. Pours a clear golden hue with a large white head. A nice light fruity hop and grain nose. Sweet, oranges, some dusty earth, lemons especially. Low bitterness. Smooth. Solid, simple, not much to stand out for an IIPA.
