Orange-Gold color. Sweet, Smoky and fruity aroma. Crisp malty aroma. The smoke is no over the top at all. Very nice.

Never heard of our noticed this beer before. 500mL swingtop, no date. Clear brown body, thick head, sticky lacing. Almost as beautiful as a lager can be. Aroma is deep and clean smoke, strong but not overwhelming. Just the most freshest, cleanest, yet simplest and rauchiest of smoke. Flavor is full smoke with clean and clear lagering. I have no idea what this beer was but it’s up there with Scherlenkerla.

Ernest (7430) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 23, 2016
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cake, toasted grain/bread), lightly hoppy (apricot), with notes of smoked meat, frosting. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A little simple in the nose, but decent enough if a tad too sweet/cakey smelling. Kind of limp and overly sweet in the mouth, but drinkable. No off notes, but lacks the refinement and richness of better examples.

Any time is a good time for a German smoked beer. Göller’s Rauchbier pours brown with a light brown/grey head. Beautiful Rauchbier smoke aromatics redolent of bacon. As good as the aroma is it doesn’t quite translate into the flavor. The taste is more bready than smokey. It’s still nice. Very smooth feel although it can seem a bit thin. It’s refreshing and that isn’t always something you can say about a Rauchbier.

Bottle from Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is smoked ham, ham sandwich, dry smoked beef, dark breads. Taste is more subdued / composed / drinkable. Great aroma and easy drinking for a smoked beast.

Bottle. Pours clear tea amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with pronounced smoky notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with smoky notes and sweetish touches of malt and yeast. Mild hints of bread. Bitter and smoky aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Well-balanced and enjoyable.

Aroma: smoked ham and sausage, some weak malty notes. Appearance: deep amber color and creamy head. Taste: smoked ham and sausage, thin malty backbone, low herbal bitterness, dry. Palate: low body and medium carbonation, smoky finish. Overall: really nice smoked beer, intensive smoky sausage notes.

wiedrzensky (810) - SLOVAK REPUBLIC - JUL 4, 2016
Bottle. Pours is dark amber to brown with medium creamy beige head. Aroma of smoked malts, cheese, touch of bacon, light fruity and sirupy aroma. Taste is light sweet, light bitter, sirupy notes and smokey mouthfeel. Medium body, creamy to sticky texture, sirupy and light bitter finish. Overally nice and drinkable but with some artificial sirupy notes on tongue and nose as well.

American smoked ale pretty much. Bottle. Pour was copper brown and the head was thin to near nil. Aroma of smoke and caramel. Flavor followed, lacked complexity, but it was tasty and nice. Just not a great example of the style. Moderate body. Probably more sessionable than most rauchbiers.
