COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Bearded Lady is a bit of a departure from the Good People norm. While most of our beers are robust, bold, and hoppy, the Bearded Lady is smooth and drinkable. Never fear, it still has the quality craftsmanship you expect from Good People. Our take on the Wheat Beer, a perennial favorite, we hope to have made a beer that is both flavorful and refreshing. The light body is complemented with just a hint of hops and just a twinge of tartness that give the Bearded Lady a subtle citrus flavor that leaves you wanting more. While we were not trying to reinvent the wheel or change the history of beer, we wanted to make a beer that was refreshing and highly drinkable for the warm Alabama summer, yet not sacrifice the integrity of anything with the Good People label. This is a beer we would be proud to hoist over our lawnmowers and say, “Today grass…you are mine!” With the Bearded Lady, we hope we have done just that. We hope you think so too.

3 oz draft sample pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma of malt, citrus and bananas. Taste is the malts.

My sense of this matches what other raters got: not a lot. Light in yellow color and in body, the aroma isn't much, but isn't offensive either. I found it difficult to place it in the "wheat ale" spectrum (I didn't know its category when I tried it, and it didn't jump out at me). O.k., but not much here. On tap at Central BBQ, Memphis, TN.

Can: Starfruit, white grape, and corn aroma. Clear yellow, thick head. Dry, brett. Grass finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Not a lot of flavor and it seems overattenuated.

A lot happening with Bearded Lady, though most seems disorganized. Most distinctive is the long, kaleidoscopic finish. It goes -- approximately -- sweet, then bark-like and resinous, then bitter, then dryly bitter. I can’t say that I like it, but I do appreciate all the colors. Otherwise, the aroma is a field of wet grass and the pour produces a nice head and releases generous carbonation. From a can, packaging date 05/01/17.

Can. Clear straw yellow in color poured with a thin white head. Citrus and floral hop aroma. Watery mouth feel. A slightly hopped pale ale.

On tap at Good People Brewpub, AL, 2.5.16. Clear pale gold. Grass and lots of malt aroma, a little bit of butter but mostly toasty. Tastes a little buttery, mildly bitter, a little floral and malty. Light-to-medium body, toasty finish.

shrubber85 (11666) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUL 1, 2016
Can. Lemon, wheat malt, and hay aroma. Yellow with moderate but short-lasting head. Mildly sweet lemon, wheat malt, and mildly bitter green grass flavor. Body on the light side. Standard wheat ale.

weihenweizen (4143) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - JUL 1, 2016
Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can, from shrubber85 poured into a weizen glass. Slightly hazy pale yellow with medium/small white head. Aroma is nice herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is pungent hops, herbal hops, and bitter finish.

Patrickctenchi (6750) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUN 28, 2016
Can:
Pours hazy, light yellow with a frothy white head.
Lemon, grapefruit aroma.
Taste is weak...orange,grapefruit-peel, wheat malt....very watery.
Comes across more like a weak APA than a wheat.
Pretty disappointing.

3.2
jandd1983 (4632) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 12, 2016
On tap at Rock Bottom. It poured a yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, lemon grass and banana. The taste was similar to the aroma with more citrus, a little hoppiness and some tartness. Tasty.

Excellent can. Brumous, bright straw colored beer with a fluffy white head. Lemony, dry, very slightly doggy aroma. Dry, starchy, low bittering, a little bland. Light body. ABC Liquors, Betton.
