American Stout Ale
At GoodLife Brewing, we add Northwest twists to all our creations and feel this beer is a perfect example. Why you ask? Well, it is an American Stout, a category that is the outcome of US based brewers’ vision for a stout, resulting in a smooth bodied ale with subtle hints of roasted malt and chocolate combined with a slight coffee and cocoa character. Yes, there are more twists, but we forgot to write them down.

The label of this beer is a work of art that has a few twists of its own. Created with the help of a lady loaded with artistic ability and soul, it tells a story. Did they wearer of the boots, hike the pass in the backdrop? Did they pitch a tent with purpose? Did they celebrate a day in the outdoors with our stout? Are they passed out – ah asleep? We hope the answers are unequivocally yes.

Life is short - live it with purpose, share your stories and always sleep well so you can make it over that Pass and have a Stout.

Malt:Marris Otter, Midnight Wheat, Crystal 60, Chocolate Malt, Rolled Oats; Carafoam

On Tap a the Bend Brewery/Taproom Black with a thin quick tan head. Modest roast aromas and flavors. Rather thin and fairly dry. Under hopped perhaps but mellow and smooth. Would not have guessed 8%

Dark brown. Thin head. Molasses, soft, malty, sweetish finish but full and rich. Very tasty stout.

On tap at sunriver. Pours a pitch black color with a medium brown head. A light toast nose. Sour metallic flavor, vanilla, sort of thin. Ok. Drinkable. Needs some body.

More. MORE I said! Thank you Goodlife, for making life good. I didn’t pass out after this Pass Stout, but had I have, it would have been sweet Wintery dreams. Looks great, a nice tan creamy and foamalicious noggin on this liquid scroggin. Oats, cocoa, root beer, vanilla, coffee and burnt bread kiss your rosy winter nose. Taste is wonderfully the same, nutty too with a great thicker texture. Pass me another Stout.

Sarlacc83 (2437) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 22, 2014
On tap. A: Mocha head, dark black body. N: Coffee, cocoa, char, some licorice, malt. Black pepper, some rye bread. T: Medium roast and bitterness. Plenty chocolatey. M: Lighter body, a bit coating. O: A thicker Guinness. Plenty of chocolate goodness; a summer stout
