Cask conditioned handpump The Hop Leeds 06/02/13. A near black coloured beer with a tight white head. Heavily sparkled making a lovely waterfall of colour in the glass. The aroma is thin. Cask-conditioned at the Black & Gold beer festival, the Gryphon, Bristol 2/9/2012. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweet caramel and dark fruit aromas. Flavour also started sweetish, before a tangy edge and dryish finish. Ok.

Cask conditioned at The Punch Bowl (JDW), York. Medium off white head. Black body with mahogany tinges. Red fruit, caramel, a hint of green apple, hint of vanilla, some light roasty notes. Bittersweet. Watery dry finish. a watery stout bordering on a mild. [Later learns that it’s classified as a mild].
