Like the digits suggest, it’s a beer that’s densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We don’t filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. That’s how you know it’s unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. It’s not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that you’d expect.

12 ounce bottle from thetomG in Secret Santa Winter 10. Thanks! Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of bread, citrus, stone fruits and a bitter finish. The taste is bitter citrus notes, some tropical notes as well, wheat, bread, an almost crackery note. Nutty finish. Thin-medium bodied. Solidly made and would probably be very nice to session during the summer.

Clear yellow with a fluffy white head. Sweet bread aroma and taste with good strong citrus throughout and a wheat bread finish.

On tap.

A - Hazed, pale gold color with an average sized, whispy, creamy, frothy, tight, pearl white head. Decent retention with a thin layer of lace.

S - Nice tart lemony aroma with some grassy and banana hints as well. Good amount of malted wheat aroma gives it a base. Pretty well spiced but nothing too strong. Pretty typical for the style.

T - Pretty nice, refreshing taste. Wheat and grainy base are nice and provide a lot of the flavor. A good level of lemon rind, grass/lemongrass, spice and just a hint of banana. Pretty zesty/tart for the style, but balanced out by the wheat flavor.

M - Light body with very nice carbonation. Quite creamy and goes down very smooth.

D - Very easy to drink, smooth, refreshing beer. Has enough zest and spice to keep it interesting and have me coming back for more.

Notes: Very nice pale wheat beer that is quite refreshing. Good summertime, thirst quencher. Also has a good amount of spice, zest, and hints of hops to kick up the wheat a bit.

12 oz bottle. Pours lightly hazed golden with a white head. Aroma is wheaty with a bit of cloves. Flavor is light wheat, lemony, and some citrus hops. It’s alright, but unexciting.

saxo (19530) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - NOV 24, 2010

G: Poured into a weizen glass.

A: Pours a pale yellow with a hint a lemony brightness. Slightly cloudy with a good amount of carbonation bubbles. Two-finger white head.

S: Sweet with some citrus spice.

T: Sweet with pale malt and a definite citrus glaze. An ever-so-slight amount of bitterness.

M: A little bit heavy on the carbonation. Also, a tiny bit too much citrus on the swallow.

D: Clean, light, refreshing. Good summer beer.

22 oz. bottle from Woodman’s Market in Madison, WI. Hazy pale yellow pour with a thick, creamy white head. Aroma of light citrus and sweet candi-like malts. Light lemon and orange flavors complement the predominant wheat ale flavor well. This was somewhere between a witbier and a hefeweizen (unlike some wheat ales that are not indistinguishable in flavor from witbiers or hefeweizens). This was good overall.

Bottle @ Home. Light golden with a small white head. Wheat, lemon and light spices in the nose. Taste is more less like nose, light lemon, spices and wheat. Thin body, lively carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a small longlasting white head. Has a fruity wheat malty aroma with some hints of citrus. Sweetish wheat malty flavor with some hints of citrus and some grainy hints. Has a sweetish wheat malty grainy finish.

Doften: Den doftar absolut ingen ting. Ingen vete, ingen frukt… ingen ting!
Smaken: Jag måste verkligen leta efter smakerna, men hittar inte mycket. Kanske en liten aning hö, men då är jag mycket snäll. Fantastisk dålig öl.
