COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the digits suggest, its a beer thats densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We dont filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. Thats how you know its unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. Its not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that youd expect.

Rather watery, dont know why it tastes like a reminiscent of a rather weak interpretation of a English Ale.

Cant believe I have never rated this before. For some reason, this seems to be the go-to microbrew in the Chicago area, but Ive never really bought into the hype as this brewery has so many better offerings. Thin, golden body with aromas of wheat and citrusy malt. Light mouthfeel with lemon citrus, wheat and hop notes that fade into a metallic finish. Not my favorite.

Bottle. Pours cloudy bright yellow and gold, with a small white head. Aromas of funky malt and mushroom....hmm, weird. The flavor is very similar, with funky mushrooms and some strange malt notes. This almost certainly has to be a skunked, and/or old bottle; if not, then dear God, what a shame.

It looks nice out of the bottle with a cloudy yellow color and a thin head, it has a citrus flavor that fades rather quickly into a clean finish and somewhat watery finish. I like many other Goose Island brews, but this one was a little disappointing.

This is an okay IPA, I wasnt terribly impressed with it. Some floral aromas, but Id like a lot more hoppiness in an IPA.

(Bottle) Golden yellow colour, slightly hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity, wheaty nose with white bread, wheat flour dough, honey, apricots, citrus and grass. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, white bread, honey and citric hints of lemon and orange. Light body, fairly dry, with low bitterness. Rather harmless, but tasty and refreshing. Quite enjoyable.

poured from single 12oz bottle - Looks unpleasing as any domestic light beer. Some pleasant aromas come off this thing. Wheat is noticeable on the nose and tongue. Pleasant citrus and light creaminess. I didnt think I would be defending this one from a less-than-great 2.8 avg., but its honestly very refreshing.

Hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Faint citrus aroma. Nice smooth palate, I like the mouthfeel. Blend of wheat and other cereal grain malt flavors on the palate. Refreshing.

Had this at Bubba Gumps at the Navy Pier, poured into a pint glass. 2.5 A: Nearly clear golden color. This beer should be cloudy and I looked at other reviews to verify that it is not filtered. (I had a FILTERED APWA before and it sucked, so now Im always weary when an APWA is clear.) Also, there was no head to speak of since the beer was poured right up to the top of the weizen glass. Pretty much an awful, uneducated pour. I wish I didnt have to do this, but I have to review it like I see it. Hopefully Ill be able to try it again before leaving Chicago so I can give it respectable marks. Sorry Goose Island. 3.5 S: Aroma was pretty bland, but not unpleasant. Most APWAs arent exciting (in the nose) unless it gets a good hopping. Anyway, mainly neutral wheat aroma. 3.5 T: A respectable brew even with the yeast MIA. Solid wheat flavor with a very mild spiciness to it. Also a very mild citrus hop flavor. 4.0 M: Medium body. Good carbonation. No problems. 4.0 D: Very smooth the whole way through. I find most APWAs extremely drinkable and this is no different. Tasty enough to make another a good idea. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-27-2009 04:54:06
