Clear, amber pour with an off-white head. The aroma has rich cocoa and bread. It has a medium body with sticky texture and somewhat lively carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet to begin but then the roasted flavor quickly takes over and finishes dry. damzz (521) - Massachusetts, USA - DEC 2, 2017

Tap at the Clybourn brewpub. Poured a clear dark Brown with a round off white head. The flavour is medium bitter with a smokey roasted malt palate. A super session beer. kermis (14716) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 14, 2013
Draft sampled at Goose Island Clybourn. Pours dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of big roasted malt, caramel, toffee, light raisin and ripe dark fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Full draft on tap at the Clybourn brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich roasty brownish pour, near transparent though, with a cakey tannish head, ruby copper bottom and edges glow very nicely. Just gorgeous with light lacing. Aromas are touches of spice, dry hops, and toast. Gentle biscuits, faint toffee. Gentle cocoa, fruity hops, touch of apple. Initial is heavier end of light bodied, offering some girth, toffee and biscuits, toast, fruity toasted apples, gentle spice. Delicate yet firm floral and earthy hops with more gentle spice. Firm gentle sweetness moves into a complete beer as it hits middle and finish. Tasty, some toasty apple, carmelized malts, and gentle spice. Finish is lingering fruit, faint cocoa and toastiness mix with decent toffee and healthy biscuits. A dry floral and Euro earthy hopping kick into play. Very nice, but the roasty toast character seems out of place (but still enjoyable for me). Gorgeous pour. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Drat at GI Clybourn. Quick caveat, this is one of my favorite styles... Pours a deep mahoggany with a pale offwhite head. Nose is super roasty, completely inappropriate. Hint of fruity notes & some soft maltiness. On tasting, the roast is far too dominant (no roast would be more appropriate). The malt falls behind. Some nice fruity notes and round melanoidins. Firm bitterness and decent herbal hop flavor. A grapey note as well. Hugely let down here. Not sure what this beer actually is...
