draft... great surprise at wlv... black body with a light tan head, not a ton to look at... I get almost all of the influence of Amager in that it tastes like a typical Danish stout that is watery charred water ok, but nothing special tmoreau (4745) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 29, 2010
First beer of the evening and served to a half-pint glass at the Goose Island invasion of Hop Leaf. Black/brown in color, with a small, dark tan head, and curtainy lacing that advanced to web-like. Not a lot of nose at first due to the cold delivery, but gradually offered up some light roasted malt and cocoa notes. The body was porter-like, with a subtle creaminess to the mouthfeel. Some caramelly sweetness showed up in the flavor, along with a strong, hop bitterness that lasted into the finish and coupled up with a decent dryness. hombrepalo (1972) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 27, 2010
1/2 Pint pour at Hopleaf. Big black pour with a thick and opaque half-inch brown head. Not expressively aromatic just rosted malts and some coffee. Roasted malt flavors dissipate into a smooth, mellow, no-nonsense brew. Nice slick mouthfeel. a bit semi-sweet and bitter.

Draft at hopleaf in a half-pint glass... Pours a dark semi-viscous almost black pour with a thin soapy light beige head... Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and dark fruit with minimal hop presence.. Flavors are big on roasted malt and chocolate notes with an adequate semi-bitter hop finish which adds a mild degree of bitterness. Smooth consistency, albeit just a bit thin. Nice roasty impy stout but doesn’t shine through others.
