COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the epic skyline of Chicago, Goose Islands brewers set out to craft Big John; a tall, bold slugger of a stout that stands out vividly against the little soft beers out there. Epic amounts of roasted malt and an addition of cacao nibs give Big John a massive chocolate flavor and aroma. With a body as substantial and black as the building to which it pays homage, Big John is sure to inspire a sense of awe with every sip.

2012. Draft (!) at the York River Landing, Maine. This has held up really well for 4 years. Its still got an impressively full mouthfeel and a strong chocolate and dark malt flavor, and it isnt showing any signs of oxidation. A mighty impressive Imperial Stout.

2011 vintage in 2016. APPEARANCE- pure black, head is absent. NOSE- as it warms up, it smells more and more boosy. FLAVOR- roastiness abounds. Boosy also comes through when it warms up. As boosy as it is, it is very smooth flavored.

Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Not sure on the age of the bottle, a few years on it I think. Aromatic with chocolate and roast, light coffee. Bis flavors of sweet and earthy roast, chocolate and coffee. A solid effort in the style.

Had it at the 5 year mark! Pours inky black with little coffee color head; strong aromas of fruitcake dunked in port; wonderful chewy palate with faded heat on the tongue. Superb.

Bottle. It poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma was of malts, chocolate and some roastiness. The taste was similar to the aroma with a smooth, roasty, chocolate and a touch of coffee aftertaste. Good stuff.

Aroma is a touch mild, some chocolate and coffee, taste is huge chocolate and and coffee. Some booze on a new bottle that gets lost when aged... Very nice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
