On tap at Clyborn. Pours a clear dark brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a lot of roasted malts with bitter chocolate. Flavor strong roasted malts with bitter chocolate and a bit of coffee. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 17, 2013
Super dark brown pour, brown head. Interesting beer. Tropical fruits and stout. Not a combo of flavors that I expected to work, but it does. Chocolate, roast, oranges, mango notes...finishes a bit dry. GABF pour. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 15, 2013
GABF 2013. Pours a brownish black appearance with a thin brown head. Slight veggie, dark chocolate, tangy, a touch fruity aroma. A bit woody, chewy bready, roasted malty flavor. I got some veggie/woody notes in the aroma and flavor that kind of turned me off, but I appear to be the exception. Hope to try it again in the future and update this rating.

Draft on tap at Goose Island Clybourn (Chicago, IL). Pours a deeper black hue, firmer deep body is hazy. A frothy light brown head atop laces ok, thicker film. Mellow glow. Aromas are firmer American hop profile. Grapefruit, some lemon, and florals. A bit of firmer dry bitter hops. Bigger grapefruit, some florals, faint roastiness. Gentle toasty element, dark malts, the hops really speak here. Initial is firmly hoppy, grapefruit and florals, some citrus, gentle fruit. Middle shows that darker edge, firmer roastiness, faint cocoa. Darker malts, toastiness and roast, mellow cocoa. Nice roasty elements stick. A firm hopping really works well. Nice grapefruit and citrus elements really work well. Backend is gentle roast, pretzel, cocoa, and toast, nice firm hop flavor makes this an interesting beer. Grapefruit, citrus, nmice hop melange throughout compliments that black malt and gentle roasty hue. Nice hops. Damn nice solid beer, quite drinkable. Nice hoppy pop. Cask pour. Ruby black color with tan head. Milk chocolate, dark roast, pale malt aromas. Light to medium body with average co2. Dry chocolate, light ash flavors with pale maltage and chocolate maltage----classic stout BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - AUG 24, 2013
Cask Conditioned @ brewpub: Pours opaque with a creamy beige head and very good lace. The aroma has roasted, chocolate, charred, tangerine, mango, pink grapefruit, piney and herbal esters. The taste is moderately citrus and tropical fruit over layer of roasted coffee and bittersweet cocoa. Some pine, herbs and earthy ash as well. The mouth feel is smooth and moderate bodied with a slightly ashy and metallic finish. A nice hoppy stout that is borderline on a Black IPA. kaser (6312) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 2, 2013
