beernbourbon (1592) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUL 22, 2009
On tap at Clybourn. Pour is cloudy ruby red with a thick and creamy head. Aroma is bourbon, toffee, plums, dried fruits, vanilla, and faint coconut. Flavor is very creamy and smooth. Vanilla and toffee dominate at first. Then hints of fruity sweetness and more vanilla interject. Finish is lasting with notes of coconut, vanilla, bourbon, and slightly hoppy dryness. This beer was amazing as far as Im concerned. I do not know how many batches there have been, but what I just drank was ridiculous. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 5, 2007
On tap at FoBAB 5. Poured a lightly hazy, caramelly-deep brown with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma was sweet and extremely rich with bourbon, vanilla, and darker fruits.. very malty, with little indication of wheat in the nose. The flavor had sweet grainier bourbon, vanilla, and medium-skinned-to-darker fruits at the base with warm, tart wheat around the tongue.. warm and malty finish with a touch of overt alcohol. Grainy, sweet, and challenging on the palate.. warm and syrupy at times, too.. great barrel integration. This was a very large beer, and it carried itself VERY well! One of the highlights of the fest. fidemaster (322) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2007
FOBAB same as everyone else. Cherry and oak flavored bourbon. It was like a very sweeth bourbon. It had a nice complexity and finished very smooth. This was a great beer. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - NOV 5, 2007
FoBAB 2007: Honey and coppery hue with a small head and some lace. The nose has a initial uppercut of booze and heavy malt (honey, sugar, wheat, apple, pear, vanilla, oak, phenols, and a hint of rubber). MoDog (927) - Griffith, Indiana, USA - JUL 8, 2009
The taste is marzipan, honey comb with a smack of vanilla with a fruity midsection that finished spicy and woody, boozy throughout but not overpowering. The mouth feel is smooth, oily, sticky with a noticeable warming. This is great stuff but not for the meek of palate. A lot of things to contemplate.
On tap at GI Clybourn, served in a snifter. Ruddy brown pour with some orange highlights and a thin head of lasting beige foam. Decent lace. The aroma had thick, heavily bourbonized caramel. Wow! Also some caramel-covered apples and light pear. The flavor had strong caramel and vanilla followed by fruit skins and a shot of bourbon. Really heavy on the caramel and vanilla, but not overly sweet. Mildly alcoholic. Full-bodied with minimal carbonation. Good stuff!

on tap at FoBAB V: pours auburn w/ white head. nose of bourbon, oak, vanilla. flavors of sweet cotton candy, bourbon, caramelly, oaky, vanilla, awesome stuff but not as good as Wooden Hell which was also there. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2007
On tap at FoBAB ’07. Cloudy brown with slight beige head. Aged dough, red fruit aroma. Flavor was aged dough, bourbon, cherry, red apple, alc. Medium body, slight carb. Pretty awesome, great fruit flavors and aged notes. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Pour is dark red-brown, dissipating head, no lacing. Nose is distinct for play-doh and mead/honey. As it warmed, honey was the predominating character, very sweet. Taste is rich and complex, slight bitterness and distinct bourbon character, though not boozy at all. well-hidden alcohol. Taste also has some marshmallows, a touch of salt and a ton of vanilla. Very slick and easy to drink. Very good and properly aged in a barrel. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JAN 3, 2009
FoBAB 2008. Poured a clear dark orange color with an off white head. Pleasant aromas of caramel, toffee, whiskey, fig, and orange liqueur. Medium to full bodied and sweet with a warming alcohol effect. Caramel, vanilla, bourbon, butter, and dark fruit flavors. Good stuff.
