COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged in the third-use barrels that were once home to Kentucky bourbon and then our renowned Bourbon County Stout, this traditional English-style barleywine possesses the subtlety of flavor that only comes from a barrel that’s gone through many seasons of ritual care. The intricacies of the previous barrel denizens – oak, charcoal, hints of tobacco and vanilla, and that signature bourbon heat – are all present in this beer. Hearty and complex, Bourbon County Brand Barleywine is a titan and a timeline; a bold, flavorful journey through the craft of barrel aging.

Draft to taster at FoBAB 2015 pour dark brown with thin off white head. Nose bourbon, toffee, caramel, raisin. Taste similar to nose, with nice mouth feel. Had this late in the evening, so I’m sure it would rate higher if tasted alone or in smaller tasting.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2018 Good reddish Brown with sweeter floor. A great beer to enjoy after working outside all day in the cold.

It pours dark brown with a brown head that has low head retention. Strong malt and plum aroma. There are moderate amounts of wood, bourbon, and caramel. There is a hint of burnt as a small note. The plum aromas are joined by raisin and alcohol notes. It is very malty rich with caramel, molasses, a sherry like flavor, and bourbon. There are also wood elements, with plums, raisins, and some herbal touches. It is full bodied, but not quite chewy. It has a velvet like texture with low carbonation. Overall, this is a sipping beer with deceptive levels of alcohol due to the smoothness about it. Many complex flavors are combined with this beer.

barwa miedziana, piany brak. Aromat średnio-intensywny, słodowy. Dominuje melasa i karmel, susz owocowy, mocno spieczone tosty na dalszym planie. beczka niemal nie wyczuwalna. W smaku słodkie, pełne, karmel, melasa, susz. Finisz minimalnie bourbonowy, alkoholowy.

Poured into a sniffer glass with virtually no head. The color is a deep brown and the aroma is sweet and fruity, almost like a plum. Overall the initial taste is sweet with a hint of chocolate but is not overwhelming. The finish is smooth with little lingering aftertaste. Honestly surprised by this barley wine, definitely a good one ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great traditional English barely wine. Very sticky with toffee, butterscotch, and bourbon. It’s. Goose island bourbon barrel meet with a good complex barley wine. Quick rating, but it is superb.

Batch 2016. Bardzo marcepanowe, słodkie, gęste, oleiste, likierowo-szlachetne. Alkohol tylko lekko wyczuwalny w postaci grzania w przełyku, wspaniała rzecz do powolnej degustacji.

I am surprised how hood it was (2016 ver). Barrel really nice and fits well. It is quite hoppy (which in my opinion makes in ABW rather than EBW). Bitter not sweet. It is a great beer to compare with Baladin Xyauyu Barrel.

A clear amber color with a small head. Aroma is caramel, vanilla, oak, toffee, wood. Full bodied, sticky, fairly one dimensional English style barley wine. As much as I wanted to love this, nope. This is an average at best BA barley wine carried by name.
