Bottle shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a thick, deep brown to black with a half a finger of beige head that lingers. Lots of creamy cacao nib aromas permeate the nose, some maple as it warms. Sweet on the palate, but some roasted espresso notes there to balance out the maple. Light chili on the finish. Smooth and great body.

Superbly cocoish beer. It is like a mashed cocoa beans. The peppers are spicy in the mouth not in the throat. Really fine one.

Bottle thanks to Kyle. Black pour, small tight beige head. Aroma leads with chocolate, molasses, vanilla, whiskey notes. Taste is all of the above, leaning on the sweeter side, a bit of savory snap as well. Smooth.

12/9/17: 10 ounce draft pour into snifter at Rabbit's Bar and Grill ($15 w/ tip). Dark black pour, thin tan head. Strong jalapeno, chocolate and bourbon aroma, in that order. Interesting blend, with the taste topping bourbon with the jalapeno spicy kick, and slight chocolate noted. Firm spicy mouth feel, thin texture, very smooth drinking. Overall great beer, lovey spicy food and I am glad Goose Island went in this direction for an excellent Proprietor's offering!

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. dispensed to a small snifter showing a black/brown hue, with a decent layer of brownish tan froth that gradually reduced to a persistent ring, and foamy dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was roasted/dark malts, cocoa, caramel & toffee sweetness, with subtle maple, woodiness & pepper, and some coffee on the back. Full bodied, with low carbonation, and some sticky & syrupy texture, the taste was as the aroma notes, with strong bourbony booze, mellowed pepper, and roasted & earthy bitterness. Very nice! Always a treat to partake in a retired heavy hitter.
