COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From Greg Hall:
"BCS rare, Im excited. Brewed in 2008, aged for 24 months in 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle Barrels. These are the very best smelling barrels Ive come across in 18 years of barrel aging beer. Barrels were originally filled with spirit in 1985. We have 50 bourbon barrels aging, it will be a one time bottling, it will not be repeated."

RBAG 2012. Holy fawking Vishnu what bit of awesomeness just appeared in my glass. Dark blackish brown with a ring of brown bubbles circling my glass. My glass smells like heaven, deep thick milk chocolate, massive vanilla notes, bourbon, smoke, oak. I truly dont think a beer can smell better than this one this has blown my mind. So thick and viscous tasting this almost has the mouth feel of melted chocolate ice cream. Ash, vanilla, cherry, mild coffee the list goes onThe chocolate is bitter but never harsh bitter. The bourbon is perfectly plate in the beer. This must be what gods cum taste like. Oily brown film is completely coating my empty glass. Best beer of the night by far.

Bottle share. Bomber bottle 11704, dated Nov 19, 2010. The colour is so white, you lose it in the sun, even hours after sunset. Aroma of vanilla, molasses, super powerful whiskey, coffee, chocolate, more whiskey, then whiskey burn. Taste is glorious of all the above, but way more smooth than expected from the whiskey aroma. Quite dry, but damn if it doesn't make your mouth water.

22oz bottle, split with friends. Pours a jet black color with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oak. Heavy on palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malt, with a smooth bourbon finish. Noticeably better then the regular BCBS. Absolutely excellent.

Notes from a 6 oz pour at a tasting with jcr. Yes, black pour. Thick brown sticky that lends black oil leaking down through the dense bubbles. Nose is intense and complex - cherries, sweet pleasant vanilla, mellow bourbon, caramel complexities, oaky, raisins, dried dates, and pleasant rich bourbon. Flavor lends smooth bourbon, cherries, vanilla, mellow bourbons. Smooth, rich, and oily. Viscous. Wonderful. We had this with the 2009 regular and 2010 Vanilla and Rare was a huge standout.

Thanks to whomever brought this to Seabasss going away party. Hot! Super hot. Flavors are solid, though. It just needs some time. Lots of booze but it is good booze. Good beer, but needs some more balance.

Bottle shared with and massive thanks to kermis. Pours absolutely pitch black. Aroma is huge vanilla, lots of bourbon, boozey, molasses, big chocolate, some cinnamon and caramel. Taste is huge vanilla, quite sweet but not sickly. Wood, bourbon and chocolate again. Very tasty. Great balance and just smells incredible. Full bodied, some carbonation and oily texture. Very very good.

Shared by Kan at the hotel tasting of the last Jackie Os release. I was completely expecting this to be some over-hyped piece of shit, but it was incredibly good. Thick, viscous mouthfeel. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, and molasses. The taste follows the aroma, is well balanced and unbelievably easy to drink for such a big beer. Well done!

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2012 Second tasting: Bottle 2,917 Re-Rate. Aroma has notes of bourbon, molasses, vanilla, dark roasted malts, coffee, dried dark fruits and rich chocolate. Small fully diminishing brown head over a black hue with no lace. Flavor is very sweet and a little hot. Palate is very full bodied and oily soft with a slightly noticeable alcohol burn on the finish. Overall a very sexy Imp Stout. Very smooth, complex, rich and delicious. Very very good. 1st tasting: Aroma has notes of bourbon, molasses, vanilla, dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Black with a tan head. Flavor is very sweet and medium bitter. Palate is incredibly smooth and buttery. Very full bodied and oily soft. Overall just an incredibly smooth and very balanced bourbon impy. Simply an amazing beer.

Thanks Andy! Not much for head on this one. Aroma has cinnamon and tons of raisin rum cake. That sums it up. Plenty of alcohol. The finish comes in with loads of candied, sugary sweetness. You can still taste the full BCS alcohol punch. Caramelly, sugary sweet.

Bottle from fear025. Took to a big IMP stout tasting at Hophead22s house. Poured a pitch black with the tiniest brown hea. Aroma was booze, dark fruits, and some coffee grinds. Taste was bourbon, booze, roast, but was very balanced. This was less hot than the regular bourbon county and was quite the treat. So glad I got to try this amazing beer. Thanks Jay!
