From notes. Moved over from napa, had it down as the wrong beer. Sampled at fobab 2012. 2nd in the goose sample flight. Wasn’t a fan of this one. Red wine and chocolate stout. This one poured a darker reddish brown color with a beige head. Aroma was big port/wine notes soaking in chocolate, light barrel, and roast. Flavor was a tad tart and funky, seemingly from the port barrels, with the BCS shining through to balance the wine. My favorite of these varieations. Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richh opaque blackish pour, dark and rich. Frothy brownish head laces ok, decent ring. Aromas are red wine, fairly tannic, grpa dna roast. Some toast, toffee, toast, vanilla and cocoa. Roasty and fudgey. Red wine and gentle tartnessn oak, roast. Initial is big red wine, grape, and big dark fruit. Tartness, some red wine, grapes, tannic. Oak. Middle is gentle toffee, toast, and caramel. Some vanilla, oak, gentle sweetness. Big tannic and tart presence. Finish is gentle tartness, red wine, oak. Solid if a bit off the beaten path. Fobab. The least favorite of the 4. Too port like. Dark brown pour. Smells of alcohol and vanilla with a little vinous quality. Flavor is red grapes, brown sugar and alcohol. Medium body with lots of alcohol warming.

One of the sweeter BCBS variations. Huge wine note, huge berrylike sweetness. Too sweet.
