Sample in a little snifter, from a 2010 bottle at the Leuven Innovation Beer Festival (25 V 2015). I am very glad to have been one of the few festival members to try the only bottle Goose Island brought along. OK, this is not much different from the "Vanilla Rye" version, yet the age of the bottle makes this 13.0% in alcohol edition somehow fuller bodied than the 14.2% edition. The barrels are different too: bourbon instead of whiskey. Yet the general flavours and taste are similar. Think of a stout with a clear sugar and vanilla balance. Add some chocolate and even caramel flavours, and you have a thick, oily stout with portwine notes and... well... a distinctive ice cream touch. Erm... I love it. 2010 bottle thanks to my man, MotherBrother @Dangerous Bottleshares #11!! Had this long time ago, very excited to try this again!! Pours a pitch black with a small, brown head. Aroma has lots of vanilla, very roasty, sweet licorice, very explicit bourbon notes, chocolate, some alcohol, cake and milk cocolate. Taste is sweet and oily, and with huge vanilla, booze, roasty finish, slight salt. Oh my! The aging suits this very well! Beersiveknown (5309) - NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 10, 2015

it was high time I cracked it open but now I wish I’d bought more! Rich, decadent, smooth, vanilla, gentle caress of whiskey, chocolate, coffee, toasty so smooth, syrupy warming vanilla spice, fragrant, never cloying, delicious

Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet and quite boozy with bourbon, vanilla, caramel, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits and light coffee notes. Taste is sweet bourbon, vanilla, toffee with dried fruits, vanilla, chocolate and warming alcohol in the finish. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.
Fairly sweet with strong vanilla and slight caramel and burnt sugar. Quite a supper but exceptional.

Bottle shared at a tasting, a 2010I believe. Lots of chocolate and a lot of vanilla as well. Full, rich flavor. One of the best bourbon barrel aged beers I have tried. jsquire (4674) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JAN 31, 2015
2010 bottle. Dark beer with very little by way of a head. Rich bourbon and vanilla bean nose. This is still really hot. Lots of bourbon just dripping with over ripe fruit and long french vanilla ice cream finish. This is a sweet syrupy beer that still has lots of booze in it. UPDATED: FEB 22, 2015 Somehow scored this in 2014 in Chicago weeks after it being available. Love the vanilla touches ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JAN 10, 2015
Bottle @ the Epic Bourbon County Tasting. Pours a pitch black beer with a small ring of brownish head on top. Aroma has massive bourbon notes, licorice, roasty touches and hints of vanilla. Flavor is simply amazing, loads of bourbon and vanilla, even after all these years. Very soft, alcohol has mellowed out a bit. Flavor has stages of bourbon and vanilla combined with some boozyness sometimes, but all very pleasant and in great balance. Very good stuff!! jmgreenuk (10369) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - JAN 10, 2015
Sample at the Bourbon County tasting, De Molen. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy broken tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, vanilla, light alcohol liqourice. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter with a smooth, rich sweet roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, woody, alcohol bitter palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation and a rich oily mouthfeel. Superb!
