This pinkish beer doesn’t keep its raspberries a secret, but its floral and herbal notes jump out front, with a strong dill-like overtone. It’s light and the sweetness gives it a soda-pop type drinkability, yet a bit of a sour back reminds you that it is, indeed, beer. Low on the carbonation, soft and flat, with a little bit of oak to hint at its short-lived wine barrel aging.
Honestly, for as much as the beer was touted to be among Goose Island’s best and rarest, I was seriously disappointed. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2010
Tap at Blind Tiger. Slightly hazy pinkish pour with a light pink head. The nose is initially loaded with bourbon character. Vanilla, caramel and toasted oak. The caramelly sweetness also seems to accentuate the acetic character that was present in the original Lolita but still seems less tart than that as well. The bourbon character really knocks the light fruity flavours to the background. It doesn’t taste as bourbony as it smells – it just tastes less like the base beer, which is too bad because the base beer is pretty damn good. A touch of peppery booziness on the back. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2010
