Pours black with low-medium brown head. Some lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, bourbon, fruits, alcohol. Taste is of alcohol, bourbon, sweet, chocolate, fruits, bitterness, acid. Palate: Full bodied. Somewhat sticky. Overall: Very good. A tad heavily harsh. Lots of alcohol in there: a sipper. mathieuc (4000) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 18, 2013
Black with not much head except a tiny brown rim and no real lacing either. Aroma is fruity (not sure which fruits but definitely red), boozy and chocolatey. Taste is again fruity but now you can really make out the raspberries. This drinks like a nice chocolate cake with its nice vanilla notes from the barrel. It is also acidic, enhancing the fruits perception. Really boozy too. Mouthfeel is sticky but still lighter than I would have expected. Not saying it isn’t a big beer, though. A really nice one by Goose Island, but I still prefer the regular BCS I think. tom10101 (6134) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 18, 2013
Bottle (22 oz). Thanks to pandableh for this one! Black with a small ring of beige/reddish foam and very little lacing. Aroma is really fruity with boozy notes, chocolate, roasted malt and caramel. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with a lot of raspberries (and other berries), dark chocolate, boozy notes, spices and roasted malt. Full bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. One of the good fruity stout I have tried so far. It reminds me of very dark chocolate (like 90+ cacao) with raspberries. The sweetness/boozyness/strong fruitiness make this one hard to drink, but it’s definitely a good complex sipper.

pours very dark brown with a small light beige cap, some retention and lacing. raisins, raspberries - light tartness, burnt caramel, dark berries, candy, bit of coconut, booze, roasted acidity but mostly coming fruits, anisseed, bit of smoke, cardboard. moderate to low carbonation, medium to full body - oily, boozy and fruity-peppery finish. very nice! rxeight (3108) - Illinois, USA - SEP 7, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2015 Looks like bourbon county. Smell is fantastic. Like fresh raspberry, should have seeds. Taste of bourbon and fruit doesnt mix. 3.6 (5 on taste)

Going to rerate this one. Had this initially at DLD 12, and I rated a bottle 8/13. Smelled great, but the taste was like a childrens cough syrup. Too much wierd sweetness that didnt mix well with the stout. Didnt really mix. Bottle 12/13, was actually starting to come together. But had this on draft at the block party (9/13) and was really starting to come together. Then again at a complete vertical 12/14. Maybe a couple other times in the interval, and each time got progressively better. By this point it might be my favorite of the fruit BCS. It has all but lost the wierd childrens cough syrup flavors. The berry has dropped off, but are still very there, but are now at a point where it is balanced nicely.
Bottle shared at Pauls. Poured a great looking viscous pitch black body under a thick beige head. Aroma was sugary, super sweet, loads of blackberry and raspberry jam, bourbon, wood, fruity pancake syrup. Flavor was the same as the aroma with just way way too much berry for me. Additional notes of tar, char and burnt barrel. I’m in the minority on this one but I didn’t care for this version, give me regular Bourbon County any day. Dark brown pour, tan head. Some fruit, oak and rye notes. Lots of berry and chocolate. Good, but not great. jredmond (8325) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 31, 2013
Bottle opened at Paul’s July 2013 Tasting. Pours a deep black body with thin, tannish brown lacing. Aroma is lots of berries - raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and black cherry; with backing notes of rich, dark chocolate, and espresso. Mouthfeel is medium to full with notes of rich chocolate, chocolate-covered raspberries, light blackberries, oak, bourbon/alcohol, sweet chocolate syrup, light acidity and a beautiful earthy espresso roast. Wonderful.
