Sampled at Clybourn. Red orange in color with no head. Light candied malt aroma. medium slick body. Malty red fruit sweet. Alcohol. A bit medicinal. Not too great but ok. 7/3/7/3/13
Had on tap at their place on Clybourn in Chicago. Golden amber with little head. Earthy with caramel and toffee. Some vanilla. Decent but not great. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Some toffee and caramel with a backing breadiness. Light bitterness and moderate sweetness. agent_511 (157) - - DEC 10, 2012
Very nice beer. Alcohol and apple aroma. Amber gold color. Roasty raisin flavor. Medium light body, creamy, with some alcohol warmth. Light for a scotch ale, but very good. Dogbrick (12932) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. The beer pours a clear golden color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt and caramel. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is short with a burnt malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Draft at Clybourn. Pours a deep gold, thin head. Nose is very earthy with a strong ester showing melon and red apple skin. On tasting, it is kind of meh. Doughy and caramel, the yeast is too prominent of a character. Moderating bitterness. Strong apple ester that really dominates the flavor. Should be a much clean and maltier beer. This is just weird. Flight pour on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep amber orange hue, firm glow with a gentle haze. A small frothy offwhite head dies to a loose ring, laces small. Aromas are sticky sweet and toasty, caramel and toffee, biscuits, kiss of red fruit. Faint peat falls behind with rich toastiness, bready and biscuity, kiss of vanilla. Some red fruit, gentle sweetness grows. Initial is medium bodied, a touch of thickness with toffee, toast, and caramel. A faint peat, but largely more sticky, some vanilla, cool sweet toffee, toast, and gentle dryness into the backend. Some red fruit in the middle is cherry, berry, and some toastiness. Backend and finish is a bit sticky, toasty, and sweet. Meh. Not my style, but an ok brew. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 13, 2012
Draft at goose, pours amber gold with no head. Aroma has red apple, brown sugar, flavors are really sweet toffee and Raisin, caramelly, oddly comes off like medicine but not that medicinal character that’s common. Really thin. Simple sugary beer, boozy, pretty offensive. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2011
On tap at GI, into a tasting glass....Pours a clear dark gold. A full thick off white head with great retention and lacing, looks awesome....The aroma is super malty, tons of toffee with a hint of a scotch finish. So-so...I can’t really stand the taste. Its skunky scotch, they claim this is sessionable, not at all, especially not at 7%, alcohol comes through way too much.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2015 Not a huge fan of this. Lighter in color than the description leads you to think. Not as sweet or malty as I would have thought. Didn’t taste like a wee-heavy a little too plain. Serving: Cask
