Tasted on draft at FoBAB. Pours nearly black with no head whatsoever. The nose is chocolate, coffee, bourbon, mint, coconut, vanilla, along with an interesting tar aroma that I get from some super dense Syrah. The flavor follows suit with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, and bourbon with a bit of mint in the background all the way through. Sampled from the tap at 2010 FOBAB. Poured a near black with a yellowish brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice bourbon note with sweet chocolate, vanilla and a hint of mint. sampled at FOBAB 2010. thanks to bbb for sharing some of his pour with me... thin cola browb pour with lighter edges and practically no head by the time it got to me.... aroma of bourbon vanilla, and a pinch of mint. not totally non-existent but perhaps my nose and tastebuds were already expecting it... flavors were much of the same with more of a bourbon and vanilla presence with a modicum of peppermint thin bodied. not that great but i would have this one again.

Draft sample at FOBAB 2010. I had this one early, as when I saw it in the program I was very excited to try it. Pours an inky opaque dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, lime citrus, oak, dark chocolate, and just a hint of mint. However, the flavor really picks up the peppermint, which complements the bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa beans, and roasted malts really nicely. The bourbon gets hot at the end, maybe as a result of the mint. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a roasty, minty mouthfeel. Sampled @ FoBAB 2010. Poured a thin oily dark brown, not thick like BCS. Scent is faint vanilla, chocolate and malts, not so clean. Taste is vanilla, red wine, malts, chocolate. Where’s the mint? FoBAB 2010: Basically opaque with a small but lasting frothy tan head. The aroma has notes of charred oak, moderate bourbon and vanilla beans, a bit grapey and some lime, roasted and oxidized malts, but am I left asking where is the mint? The taste is sweet chocolate and fresh vanilla, nutty and roasty with just a brief moment of minty happiness. The finish displays a snappy bourbon and boozy kick. The mouth feel is aggressive and warming, slick but a tad thin. It is okay but was really hoping for a more minty brew here.
