Draft on tap at Goose Clybourn (Chicago, IL). Call me crazy, but I’ve been really excited for this one. Pours a golden hue, a bit dulled overall, dulled straw grainy glowing edges and bottom. Well carbonated, darker touch of body. A cakey whitish head atop stays as a firm layer, laces ok. Aromas are gentle grainy malt, bread, and straw. Cucumber, earthy green pepper, and mellow faint spice. More bread, the cucumber is mellow and doesn’t really elevate to that "cool" feel on the nose. Grainy, bready, gentle touch of fruitiness. Initial is lighter end of the fold, cool gentle cucumber presence meets bready malts, cereal grain. A bit dry, straw, and grainy cereal elements up front. The middle shows a bit more cucumber, green feel, almost more green pepper feel. Gentle sweetness, earthy and green feel, the cucumber is gentle, and actually not cumbersome or dominant, more gentle, a mellow compliment. Backend shows more earthy and cucumber elements, dry grainy elements, cucumber linger on. Mellow earth, grainy malt, some bread. Clean, the gentle earthy hop element mingles with the cucumbers, gentle green pepper, earthiness and almost some soil like feel. This one is interesting. The Pils element shows some life, the cucumber, while not dominant, does compliment well. I wanna say they could use more cucumber. Oddly enough, it seems a bit tame in that regard. Still, a fun experiment, earthy and green, a nice one to try. Quite drinkable but perhaps a bit underwhelming from the cucumber standpoint kaser (6382) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 8, 2013
Pour at paddy longs. Crazy cucumber up front bit goes away quick. Very good. Fresh pilsner. tmoreau (4637) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JUN 30, 2013
On tap and shaker served at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL., displaying a clear, golden color, with persistent, white head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The nose was leafy, earthy, root-like, then cucumber scent. Fairly light bodied, the flavor added a moderate, lingering hop bitterness that was accentuated by decent carbonation, and a less prevalent hint of cucumber. Crisp, and dry finishing, with the cucumber making the brew a little less clean imo. Still quite sessionable. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - OCT 29, 2013
On Draft a The Tap House Lemont. Pours a bright golden pour with a medium styrofoam white head. Aroma of fresh cucumber, bready pils malts, some dusty malts as well. Flavor is big bright fresh cucumber. Quite like refreshing cucumber water. Lightish bodied, nice crisp pilsner backing. Effervescent carbonation, light bodied, refreshing. Finishes crisp and clean. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 30, 2013
Tap at the source... Pours a mostly transparent golden straw hue with a slight orange tinge. A creamy white head rests on top... Refreshing and somewhat assertive cucumber essence upfront, was expecting less, with pale grains gently backing it. Nice and refreshing... Less cucumber in the flavor but still there with more if a predominant pale grain emphasis. Just shy of medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Prefer the aroma to the flavor. Still pretty drinkable.

Draft at Blarney Stone fest, June. A lot of people here tried it and liked it. I was the guy pouring it, and this was my first time trying it. First let’s note that GI apparently has room on the schedule for some lagered beers (or was this done at the brewpub?). It’s decent lager. Can’t what I think of it as a pilsener, as the cucumber taste is right up on top of the malt. I really don’t like cucumbers, but I can appreciate its flavor in a beer or soft drink I guess. In fact, this is not my first cucumber beer. But very interesting; if the cucumber taste doesn’t get to you, a surprise luncheon beer. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 16, 2013
Draft at Jerry’s. Brilliant gold with modest, creamy, white head, light legs / Lightly sweet, vegetal, somewhat bitter nose / Medium body, fat, resinous, bitter / Bitter, astringent flavors of cucumber skin, grain, resin, honey / All in all, pretty dreadful. (If you can get your hands on it, the one to try is Cigar City Cucumber Saison.) pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 13, 2013
On tap at Madison’s for the pre-Great Taste event in Madison, WI. Wow, this is cucumber-y. Not quite tart like a dill pickle, but has a serious fresh cucumber taste to it. Cool concept and very refreshing, but I’m not sure I could drink more than 10-12 oz of it without it burning the taste into my tastebuds.
