Sampled at ABR this fall. Pours a clear gold, aroma is very fruity and obviously Belgian in style. By no means a bad beer, and certainly a nice representation of the style, but not quite my personal cup of tea.

I believe the beer I had was past its prime. The color was a straw yellow, muted, dry a bit blah.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 Medium offwhite head. Yellow body with strong carbonation. Fruity herbal honey aroma with funky earthy notes. Dry-sweet, and very faintly acidic, fruity herbal peach taste with funky notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish resiny herbal fruity aftertaste with grassy funky notes. Nice and unusual, but perhaps a little tame. (0.65l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen. Rated again with exact same score.)

Bomber. Poured slightly hazy bright golden with a short-ish lived white head. The aroma picked up crusty bread and honey sweetness with yeasty accents of white pepper and cloves.. deep, sour lemon undertones.. a pinch of green apple too.. just OK. The flavor found more honey and bread supporting the core, with cloves and lemon rind driving the edges.. peppery and fairly hot on the dry, yeasty finish.. a touch cardboardey on the back-end. Medium-bodied and fairly sour on the palate.. prickly carbonation and spices.. just an OK brew.

Bottle. Rather strange belgian ale. The yeast has got qualities tha somewhat reminds me of a hefeweizen. Notes of clove and banana. Overall very fruity and yeasty.

Serving glass: Poured from bomber into Snifter. Appearance: Very clear yellow-gold with thin stark white head and some lacing. Aroma: Sweet banana, cloves, citrus, pepper and an overall mustiness. Taste: Strong clove and pepper with undertones of banana, citrus and musty yeast. The cloves and pepper linger long after each sip. Palate: Moderately high carbonation, medium almost syrupy body. I wish it was more light and crisp. Overall: Pretty nice Belgian Golden Ale. I like it but can’t help but compare it to the lighter, but more complex, Duvel.
