On tap @ RattleNHum The aroma is light, herbal, and dominated by cherries. The mouthfeel is slightly oily but interesting and fun. On the palate the beer is quite complex with notes of cherries, oranges, vanilla, cedar, mild sugar, and very little hop bitterness with well hidden alcohol. Overall a fun beer, but not one I’d kill myself to run out and get. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 22, 2011
On tap @ Happy Gnome. Red orange appearance with an orangish white head. Wild, sour, red fruity, bourbon, and some dark malts in the nose. Slightly sour, wild Belgian ale flavor with sweet bourbon, oak, vanilla, and even a hint of the stout remains. Very complex and mostly tasty beer. mattmc1973 (479) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - MAR 19, 2011
On draft at Firkin of Libertyville, served in a Goose Island chalice. Color is reddish brown with thin off-white head, Aroma of faint bourbon, oak, cherries, vinegar. Taste is tart and slightly sour, and mildly sweet. Light to medium bodied, crisp and dry with lively carbonation. Very tasty, I liked this one. Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - MAR 16, 2011
On tap . The happy gnome.
Amber orange pour with a thin lasting head.
Tart lactic, cherry, vanilla, oak, some coconut.
Flavour is not as tart as expected. Light tart fruitiness. Vanilla and wood. Hint of bourbon in the finish. crossovert (12928) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2011
Had it on tap at the brewpub, smells amazing, the flavor is a bit muddled, it is mildly sour, not too much bourbon, but it was pretty good. It will probably be bottled soon and be some kind of whale. It is nice to have it when there isn’t as much hype surrounding it.

Clear copper-orange. The aroma is sweet, vanilla, light funk is detectable, but hidden behind the wood. Taste is only vanilla, bourbon, oily, oak, very sweet wood, not much funk at all. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAR 11, 2011
On tap at Black Squirrel, WDC. Pours a deep, caramel amber with a thin, soapy white head. Nose is sweet, lightly boozy, woody, citrus zest. Flavor is great, orange, oak, hay, only lightly bretty which comes across as light cheese, candy sugar, malty, coconut, tropical fruit, great woody barrel flavor. The barrel is a primary flavor but not at all overwhelmiing. Finish is medium bodied, lightly astringent, very spritzy. Needed more of a bouqet in the nose, but the flavor was perfectly balanced. tastybeer (1853) - Indiana, USA - MAR 10, 2011
Draft. Pours a hazy ruby with an off-white head. Aroma is great - sour/funk, cherries, vanilla, oak, bourbon. Flavor is sour with a nice oak/smokiness from the bourbon. Really good stuff. Reminds me of the Russian River sours. I want more. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 8, 2011
Tap at Blind Tiger - sweet caramel and a nice deep funk. Sour fruit brandiness, acetic and barnyard. Smooth and thirst quenching. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2011
Lovely. Had this recently at Bar Deville. Light color, like a ruby orange. Great lacing of the head throughout. Sour, but not overly so. Noticeable traces of alcohol with some burnt sugar. A nice surprise for the evening.
