On tap at Clybourn 12/16/2005: Pours a clear mahogany ruby with a thin, light-tan head. Has a nice sweet caramel and fresh piney hop aroma. Body starts with a ton of sweet crystalized caramel and fresh piney hops. Some warming alcohol is present near the finish, otherwise a very balanced and enjoyable brew. From growler by friendly beer provider Noah (htsprint1). This was a real taste treat. A beige head tops off a clear garnet body. The aroma was a symphony of essences: piney and citrus hops, toasted almonds, brown sugar, toffee and caramel candies. The body is rich and creamy. The flavor is a nice, slightly sweet, nutty taste. Sampled at the December 05 meeting of the Champaign-Urbana beer club courtesy of a growler from Noah. Thanks. I’m starting to think Double Reds will be the next big thing. A beautiful copper brown pour with aromas of marzipan and hazelnut coming through above the pine and citrus. Lots of sweetness and nuttiness on the palate blending well with all the hops. This beers says hello with a hearty aroma of hops. It is a dark copper color with a off-white head. It teases the palate with a sweet nutty/hoppy taste that has a mild tartness in the background. It lingers well leaving a nice roasted nut taste.

Clear red-brown body. Grapefruit flesh, strawberry and white bread aroma. Big juicy, fresh hop flavor - sweet grapefruit, lemon rind, strawberry, alcohol pepper, and a subdued caramel malt. Great beer but the alcohol is a bit much. Mangino (1027) - Mississippi, USA - DEC 19, 2005
On tap @ the brewpub- Pours a clear dark red color. Aroma of pine needles, sour cherry and apple, slightly citrus and maltyness as well. On tap at the Clybourn pub. Dark, dark, translucent amber. Sweet aroma of dark fruits and some traces of banana along with hints of citrus hops. Taste follows with more hops than the aroma alludes to along with pound cake and various berries. The ABV is nicely hidden in this complex red ale. Really nice.
