Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn. Pours a clear deep ruby with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has a combo of sweet and earthy grains with a bit of booze and honey. Poured draft on tap the the cybourne brewpub (chicago, il). Pours a very dark opaque blackish brown with nice brownish head that laces in a tulip. Aromas are very nice brown, slight nut, malty, nice sweetness with a touch of booze, brown sugar, and creamy sweetness. Initial is very welcoming, assertive malting with nice sweetness, nut, and nice balance with hopping to match. Finishes a little vinous, subtle dark fruits and carmel and brown sugar with a bitterness on the backend. A little thick. JPDIPSO (6298) - Wauwatosa, USA - NOV 17, 2009
Near brown color with a hint of cherry color when swirled in the glass. Heavy malt aromas with a mild fruit, especially berry background. It think I read that this had been aged on cranberries. Flavor start sweet with caramel and toffee, a slight blending of the fruit in the middle and a touch of spice in the finish and into the linger with just a bit of alcohol. Slightly warming. A nice winter warmer.

Thick brown appearance with a nice light brown head. A sweet, desert beer. Toffee, chocolate, and brown sugar. UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 A: Very dark; nearly opaque through a 5 oz. tasting glass. Light brown sugar head with moderate retention.
S: Sugary sweetness with residual fruit esters. The malt comes through under the fruits. Faint hop aroma.
T: Quite sweet with the alcohol hitting the back of the throat. Hints of black licorice; greater presence of dark fruits and at least a little black cherry. Definite bite of alcohol.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Crispness on the tip of the tongue and a slight tingle on the way down.
D: Can’t get enough--hard to stop and write between sips. My
favorite offering from Goose Island yet.
Other Notes: Had at the Wrigleyville location on 02.28.09. The menu there calls the beer "Extra Naughty Goose."

On tap at Wrigleyville before DotLA. Poured a cloudy, dark brown tone, with a modest, foamy head and the same foamy lacing. The aroma was pleasant roastiness with some sweetness of caramel and molasses. Just a light touch of roasted coffee was also present. The flavor carried over all these but the coffee, and added malty, tangy and bitter notes. The body was medium to full, with a nice, creamy mouthfeel, and a dry/bitter finish. A very good taste bud prep for the rest of the day.

Gosh, I liked this--possibly the best beer of the 2009 Holiday season? Gorgeous aroma with raisins and a very floral bouquet. Vanilla and some alcohol, as a testament to the aging. Draft at brewpub. Ugly brown drain water appearance. Thick like a puddle with some spit like lacing. Aroma has a strong smell of rotten apples. A mix of high octane, autolysis, and unfermented caramel malts. Fortunately, the flavor is much nicer. Light sweet and earth brown malts with some unfermentables left over. Just a light apple character at the end
. Lighter and less high octane than expected. Sweet brown sugar syrup aftertaste. Hate the aroma, fine with flavor.
