Sampled on tap at Goose Clybourn (Chicago, IL). Pours a dark and hazed brownish hue, ruby edges, small tannish head. Aromas are sweet and fruity, red fruit and carmelized malts, toast, toffee, and a touch of cough syrup. Initial is medium to heavier bodied, sweet toffee, dry toast, a touch of cocoa, light dark fruit. Some touches of cherries, mellow cocoa, dry toast, lots of toffee. Backend dries up a touch, cocoa and red fruit, cherries, a touch of cough syrup. Finish is sticky and sweet, a touch of toast and dryness. Ok, too sweet. It certainly looked good, but the cherries add a touch of a medicinal cough syrup quality that detracts overall.
