This beer appears to have been resurrected as "Hefe-Hawks Win". Had it at the Clybourn brewpub. A fairly earthy less-sweet hefe with some serious hop notes to go along with its strong yeast and grain flavors.

On the beers from Goose Island I hadn’t had the chance to try yet, and I finally get it at the new Whole Foods on North. Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma of banana, clove, yeast, and some other spices. Good flavor, banana comes through. Good stuff

Draft at Wrigleyville. Poured a cloudy medium orange color with a white head. The aroma was dominated by spicy malt and a hint of yeasty bread dough. There was only the slightest hint of the normally anticipated banana and clove. Light to medium bodied an dry on the tongue. Tasted of spicy malt and white bread. Not a bad beer, but not a good hefe by any stretch.

On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a very cloudy golden bronze with a thin ring of white bubbles. Aroma of sweet wheat and banana with some clove spice balance. Body starts fairly full with a touch of bready wheaty sweetness and nice authenticity and clove spice. A decent hefeweizen.

Draft at Clybourne. Nice banana clove aroma. Medium bodied but with a slight thin texture. Flavor of pale wheat malt countered by lots of clove, and a hint of banana bubblegum. Lacks the sweetness of the Hefes I like. However, still a very nice example of the style.

On draft clybourn. Cloudy orange withlarge white creamy head. Spicy hoppy aroma with sweet malt and light fruityness. Bitter hops, wheat flavor with banana and other light fruit, little alc. Med body and creamy yet somewhat busy carb. Pleasing and well done.

JPDIPSO (6296) - Wauwatosa, USA - AUG 14, 2007
Clybourn. Golden color with a moderate white head. Light phenol and sweet wheat aromas. Quite typical of a decent hefe brewed with the right yeast. Sweet malt-o-meal flavors along with a little fruit. Mid-echelon weizen.
