Straw colored, good sized head. Bubblegum and banana nose, sweet and slightly bready flavor with touches of banana, bubblegum. Very standard hefeweizen, and there’s not a thing wrong with that. drdisque (911) - Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2010
This beer appears to have been resurrected as "Hefe-Hawks Win". Had it at the Clybourn brewpub. A fairly earthy less-sweet hefe with some serious hop notes to go along with its strong yeast and grain flavors. wmubronco1992 (709) - Coldwater, Michigan, USA - AUG 7, 2007
On tap at Clybourn location. Cloudy golden appearance. Excellent Hefeweizen aroma of banana and spices. Best Hefeweizen that I’ve had in a while. Well done beer and perfect for the hot summer. Looks like I rated higher them most, but I love this style when its done well and Goose Island definitely did this one right. michael-pollack (4960) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2004
Draught: Yellow-orange color. Lightly cloudy with particles. Also hazy. Diminishing, small, white, creamy head. Fair lacing. Heavy malt flavors of molasses, grain, and nuts. Light hop citrus flavor. Average bacteria flavor. Also tasted of banana, nutmeg, corriander, honey. Medium body. Creamy, slick texture. Average carbination. Bitter finish. Well balanced. Good hefe. ceejmomeechmo (58) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2005
On tap at wrigleyville...Poured a hazy golden almost a light brown with a small but thick white head. Big, heavy banana nose with subtle vanilla undertones. Flavor is more citrus than the nose, with spicy, banana notes also present. A great summer brew with definite session potential.

On cask @ GI Clybourn. Poors a cloudy light brown/dark yellow with a creamy head. Aroma of bananas, berries, apples, cloves. It’s a fruit salad in a pint glass! Sweet fruity flavor with some pleasant spicines. Banana notes, subtle hoppiness. Goes down creamy, velvety smooth (that would be the cask..) An excellent summer refresher that’s best sampled on cask. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - AUG 12, 2007
On tap at Clybourn. Flavor was very strong on the banana and spice. Really great tasting. Good mouthfeel, but just really liked the flavor. joeycapps (1469) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 3, 2003
Hazy yellow w/ fine white head. Banana & cloves on the nose. Light, lightly acidic feel. Typical hefeweizen profile--banana, cloves, and some lemony tartness. FlacoAlto (4265) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 5, 2004

This beer has a thin off-white head that sits a top a hazy deep gold colored beer. Clove notes dominate the aroma, but there is some banana and a pleasing tart lemon character here as well. The taste is soft and smooth up front. It finishes with a nice clove element and a certain sharpness that seems to be derived from the carbonation, a certain acidity, and an overall yeast character. Once again, I am quite impressed by these beers. This is a great quaffer on a humid Chicago afternoon: light, refreshing, fruity, with a good crispness & flavor from the wheat. I really like the sharpness that is in the finish, it helps to balance the rest of the flavor components found in this beer.
On tap at the brewpub: Big banana aroma. Very tingly on the tongue. Yeasty and fruit-salady. Authentic enough hefeweizen.
