the wheat is apparent in the nose. also in the taste as well. this beer would go excellent with a BLT. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 19, 2005
Had this for the first time by accident. They brought out the new sampler with this in place of the Saison. Spicey and brown. Cloves, banana, it’s all there. A bit tart. Pretty good example of a classic German style, I suppose. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 28, 2005
Banana chips. Light, malty, sweet. Needs more hops. This is highly drinkable. Didn’t seem very wheaty, or close to style. But this is worth checking out. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 29, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 On tap at G.I. Clybourn. Poured a cloudy deep amber with just wisps of white head. Freshly-cut bananas, candy corn, tart lemongrass, and an underlying sweet maltage graced the nose. Caramel and dark-fruity sweet malts, banana extract, and candied apricot were found in the flavor with well-placed lemon tartness. Lightly-grainy on the palate with well-placed bitterness. Good hefe.. not a great hefe. Illini08 (542) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUL 9, 2007
On tap at Clybourn. Cloudy yellowish pour. Definitely looked like a hefe. Spicy and estery aroma and flavors. Tasty summer brew.

Listed as Hefe-Hawks Win at Gi Wrigleyville. Pours hazy orange with small white head. Aromas of clove, banana, yeast, and bready malts. Flavors of orange, banana, clove, yeast, and bready malts. Mouthfeel was rather thick for a hefe. Carbonation was a little on the light side for the style. Not a good hefe, but not a bad beer overall. Sammy (13144) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2012
tap at Wrigleyville. Easy drinking. Orange and wheat aroma. Middling mouthfeel, which is a little light for this style. Carbonation is right there. A bit sweet. Altogether a summer beer. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - AUG 1, 2015
On tap: The aroma consists of banana, wheat, light citrus, apple, and clove. It’s a mostly transparent golden-orange with a touch of haze and a small white head. The flavor starts with wheat and light banana. The finish has light citrus/lemon with a touch of clove. It’s light bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Draft at the Goose Island Brew Pub. Cloudy orange beer with huge white head. Melon, cloves, and banana, as typical for a wheat. Crisp citrus sour finish, but unremarkable.
