Draft on tap at Acre GI Invasion event (Chicago, IL). Pours a hazy darker amber pour, moderate offwhite head sits atop with good ringing and lacing. Good haze. Aromas are sweet malts, orange citrusy hops and stale hay and touches of barnyard dry funk. Big orange marmalade feel with toffee, dry hops, touches of florals. Initial is medium bodied offering a telltale moderate kick of bretty funk up front, dry and horsey, with hay, tallgrass, and old blanket. Bandaids make a prominent appearance. The dryness lingering into the finish, keeping just touches of toffee and caramel flourishes in the game and a light synergy with oranges, orange marmalade. The hops are lighter but work well with the dry fairly dominant dusty hay funk. The medicinal bandaids really get me in a weird place, this beer seems to need some more time and a more agressive dry hop. It’s getting there, but not yet. Staying a touch too bandaidy for me. Interesting for sure, but a little weird.
