Courtesy of Oakes and Beershine. Pours a copper amber color with a small white head. Smells of some musty malts, clay, light candy sugar, and bready yeast aromas. The flavor is a bit bitter and malty. Some caramel malt is really evident along with a touch of some citrus. Maybe a touch too bitter in the finish, didnt leave a great aftertaste on the palate. Still was an interesting brew and glad I got to try it. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 14, 2008
12 oz bottle thanks to drewbeerme for this sample. 2005 vintage. Pours a hazy amber with a white head. Nose is oxidized in every way possible. Cooked vegetables, aged caramel, old fruit, cheese, with some wheat and fruit that show themselves after this warms up. The flavor is much better. Though some of those vegetable notes are apparent, the caramelized malt, brown sugar, yeast, and plums are quite tasty with a smooth body. Decent overall, but hopefully I can try a fresh one, one day. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2008
12oz bottle. 2005 vintage. pours hazy amber with off white head. nose is very oxidized, vegetal and some caramel. flavor is oxidized caramelly, some vegetal, nutty, plums. past its prime a bit but still drinkable and actually tasty. DrnkMcDermott (3108) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2008
Bottled ’05 vintage at Goose’s brewery. Seems to be quite a bit of this going around. My sample was from the bottom of the bottle, so a little cloudy, but decently brown. A bit of yeast in an otherwise malty smell. Taste is sweet like a Belgian dubbel, lightly bitter, with tickly bubbles. Impression overall is like an Imperial IPA without hops. We had actually settled on thinking this was a barley wine; it does have some similar character to an ’05 Bigfoot. Goose Island probably decided they had enough Belgians in their bottled portfolio. 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 6, 2008
Thanks Matt. The beer pours to a murky brown body with a white head. The aroma is wheat, candi sugars, odd hops, and other indiscernibles. The flavor is intensely caramelized malts, sweet wheat, really decent malts. Rich mouthfeel with a very sugary sweet caramel.

Sampled a 2005 vintage during Cheesehead YeHA in Brookfield, Wisconsin and shared by MrFacto. Pours a hazy caramel amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and thin ring. Aroma of light caramel malt, yeast, brown sugar and some light American cheese. Taste is medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of powdered caramel malt, over-ripped apples, and brown sugar. Finish is slightly gritty, with a sour caramel aftertaste. Cheesehead YeHA 2007, bottle (2005) brought by Matt (MrFacto): Slightly hazed brown hue with minimal head and some spotty lace. The aroma has notes of BABY POOP, cheesy, high acidity, some caramel and candy, very earthy. The taste is quite syrupy and malty with over ripened apple and fusel alcohol. The mouth feel is thick and chewy with low level of soft carbonation. This is going downhill quick. (I swear I rated this but guess not)

Thanks to Facto for bringing this 2005 bottle! Poured clear coppery caramel with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up lightly-toasted brown sugar and caramel with some herbal notes and a solid oxidation presence.. softer and decently-aged. The flavor had warm caramel and some cheesy notes at the core.. the hoppage died down to just a little herbal remaining.. tacky brown sugar and caramel on the back-end, and a bit of odd sourness emerges just after the finish. Sweet, sour, and a little grainy on the palate.. warm at the end. OK feel. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 15, 2007
2005 bottle per Matt I believe.
Caramel color w/ a tiny off white head not much lace. Very alcoholic aroma hints of cereal and other grains smells over aged, oxidized fruits. Palate is hot. Flavor is over aged oxidized heavily heavily fuesal alcohol. Not good anymore. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 28, 2007
UPDATED: APR 24, 2008 Bottle shared by moejuck, courtesy of someone who lost a cell phone: Pours a ruddy copper with a tan head. Aroma, was caramel and cardboard, and not much else. Flavor, caramel, some earthy notes, some fruits, and yeasty notes, interesting, but kinda strange.
